I was 12 years old and was in bed, listening on my transistor radio to the Yankees playing the Indians when Gil McDougald hit a ball that hit Herb Score in the eye. I prayed for him, but he was never the same again. He was a great left handed pitcher, who would have been a hall of fame pitcher if not for the injury. God bless him and his family, and may he rest in peace.

Herb Score was my childhood hero. I met him in the broadcast booth at Municipal Stadium and he autographed a ball for me. It still sets in my office at home. I worshipped the guy! I'll meet him someday in heaven. Thanks for the Memories

I NEVER MET HERB IN PERSON, BUT I KNEW HIM QUITE WELL. I CAN STILL REMEMBER LISTENING TO HIM AND BOB NEAL IN THE MID-60S ON A LITTLE TRANSISTOR RADIO WITH AND EAR-PHONE UNDER MY BED COVERS LATE AT NIGHT CALLING GAMES OUT WEST SOMEWHERE. ALL THOSE YEARS AFTER, HE WAS THE VOICE THAT TALKED TO ME ABOUT MY BELOVED TRIBE. I DO MISS HIM.
