I was 12 years old and was in bed, listening on my transistor radio to the Yankees playing the Indians when Gil McDougald hit a ball that hit Herb Score in the eye. I prayed for him, but he was never the same again. He was a great left handed pitcher, who would have been a hall of fame pitcher if not for the injury. God bless him and his family, and may he rest in peace.

Herb Score was my childhood hero. I met him in the broadcast booth at Municipal Stadium and he autographed a ball for me. It still sets in my office at home. I worshipped the guy! I'll meet him someday in heaven. Thanks for the Memories

I NEVER MET HERB IN PERSON, BUT I KNEW HIM QUITE WELL. I CAN STILL REMEMBER LISTENING TO HIM AND BOB NEAL IN THE MID-60S ON A LITTLE TRANSISTOR RADIO WITH AND EAR-PHONE UNDER MY BED COVERS LATE AT NIGHT CALLING GAMES OUT WEST SOMEWHERE. ALL THOSE YEARS AFTER, HE WAS THE VOICE THAT TALKED TO ME ABOUT MY BELOVED TRIBE. I DO MISS HIM.

I met Herb at Yankee Stadium after going to school with his daughter Judy in Aurora, Co in the early 80s. She arranged a meeting while he was there braodcasting a Yankee - Cleveland game. he was gracious and accomodating. I lost touch with Judy after a few years and tried to contact her when I heard of the tragedy. I hope you are well, Judy and my best to you and all the family.

I only met Herb Score once: Herb and his catcher, Roger Painter (my brother), visted me at Good Sam hospital in West Palm Beach, FL. when I was born in 1952! Herb Score enriched the lives of many people. May God bless and keep him and his family.

I learned only recently of Herb's death. I was a huge fan during the era when we used to debate who had the more overpowering fastball, Herb or Bob Turley.

I have nothing but fond memories of following Herb's too brief career and listening to him on Indians' broadcasts

As a HS visiting team member I stayed at the Scores for a few nights. I also followed his career with Cleveland. Superb pitcher & athelete. But what I remember the most, through hind-sight was what a loving family Herb had. Helen, Herb & their mother truly loved each other & shared it with others. Helen, Herb, their mother's and her buckwheat cakes. Good memories. May you rest in peace Herb. May we all receive God's Blessing's

I remember back to 1968 with Herb and Bob Neal on the radio. Every spring Herb's voice would remind me baseball was here and all was well. I believe he never got the credit he deseves as a broadcaster, but us in Ohio knowns what a treaure we had.
