I met Don back when I joined Kappa Sigma in 1973. As house president during my undergrad years, I was so impressed by the dedication of Don and his cadre of fellow Kappa Sigma alumni volunteers from "the greatest generation" to our chapter. Their devotion to the fraternity and their willingness to share their experience and business acumen went a long way towards making our life as chapter officers easier.
To have seen Don's deep devotion and steadfast dedication to Kappa Sigma continue over the 4 subsequent decades of my own involvement with Alpha Zeta was truly remarkable. No one better than Don Swancutt exemplified the Kappa Sigma adage that says our brotherhood persists "....not for a day, not for an hour, not for a college term only, but for life!"
The Greek letters Kappa Sigma which remain on the side of 806 Hill Street in spite of the numerous challenges faced by the Michigan chapter over the years stand as testimony of Don's unparalleled record of over 60 years of service to Alpha Zeta. All of us at Alpha Zeta of Kappa Sigma will miss his sage advice and guiding presence.
