Vera Olga Gerling, 91, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Gerling was born in Berger, Missouri, on July 16, 1925, the daughter of the late William and Edna (Mehrhoff) Dahl.
She was the wife of the late Marvin P. Gerling; they were married Sept. 6, 1947, at Berger, Missouri.
Vera is survived by her children, son Steve Gerling and wife Carrie of New Haven, Misosuri; daughter Diane Hoerstkamp and husband David of New Haven, Missouri; son Wayne Gerling and wife Ginny of Hermann, Missouri; daughter Sherry Glenville and husband Nick of Union, Missouri; son Robert Gerling and wife Cindy of New Haven, Missouri; daughter Kay Ruegge and husband Clyde of New Haven, Missouri; son Keith Gerling and wife Jodi of New Haven, Missouri; son Bryan Gerling and wife Diane of Berger, Missouri;
By a sister, Dorothy Quic of New Haven, Missouri; a daughter in-law, Leanne Gerling of New Haven, Missouri; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, her husband, a son, Garry, and a great-grandchild, Luke Hoerstkamp.
Vera was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church, New Haven, Missouri
She worked at the Shoe Factory in Berger, Missouri, but most of her time was devoted to raising a family. Some of her favorite hobbies included vegetable and flower gardening, baking, reading Bible stories to grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leading Bible studies, and was a great prayer warrior. She also enjoyed hosting weekly Bible study and prayer time in her home for many years.
Funeral services were held at Memorial Baptist Church, New Haven, Missouri, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, with the Rev. Joe Nogalski officiating.
Visitation was Monday, April 17, 2017, 4-8 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church, New Haven, Missouri.
Burial was in the Dahl family cemetery, Berger, Missouri.
Memorials may be given to the church, in care of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
