For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed for his name by ministering and continuing to minister to the holy ones (Hebrews 6:10). Jan will never be forgotten for all the work did for the writing community and especially those encouraged and inspired in this persons' care. May God continue to strengthen the family and friends in these “times hard to deal with” (2Tim 3:1), especially without a beloved one such as Jan Berenstain.

Berenstain Family,

A beloved childrens author holds such a special place in our lives. Although we do not know them, their words teach us lessons about ourselves and others which can mold who we are to become and often it is their voices in our heads that we carry with us into our nights sleep. For those of us children without a perfect treehouse to call our own, I thank you for being a source of childhood education and wonder. My sister and I have the entire collection of books between us and, as I sat down just Sunday evening and read "Count their Blessings" to my son, I counted your familys wonderful books among them and grieved the passing of such a wonderful author. Thank you Jan and Stan and sons. My deepest condolences.
March 13, 2012
My kids and I will continue to enjoy the Berenstain books. Our heart goes out to the Berenstain family.
March 13, 2012
I am so very sorry for your lost. I was so exicited when I discovered these books. I still have the books that I read to my children. I am now a teacher and I use your books in my class. Thank you for the warm stories that appeared in your many books.
March 09, 2012
The Berenstain Bears are a part of our everyday lives. We realize that Stan and Jan were beloved family members apart from their books, and for that loss we extend our most sincere regret and condolences. But for their legacy, their idyllic family values, and their enduring charm our family is truly grateful.
March 08, 2012
Thank you for your HUGE contribution to all of us (not just the young) ... We are all better people from learning from the "bears" ... I loved your books as a child and even to this day! ... RIP
March 08, 2012
My daugher, who is in middle school, still insists I read her a Berenstain Bear book before she falls asleep every night. Maybe we should be reading sophisticated chapter books, but I think after a day of middle school drama, texting and a little TV, she is craving a connection with her childhood and with the universal messages in each and every book. I am sorry for your loss and so grateful for the immense gift your books have been for our family.

Hello Berenstain Family,

My condolences to your family. I grew up reading the Berenstain books that my grandmother, Joan (Barry) Grant, sent my younger brother, Darren, and I. Being a part of the Grant family, we have felt a sincere connection to the themes of the books and have enjoyed them tremendously. As an adult, I now share the books with children of family and friends. The books have always contained stories to treasure. God bless.
March 05, 2012
I am so sorry for you loss. My husband & I were just discussing your family and the wonderful values your family has demonstrated and modeled in your books. I will continue to build a library of Berenstain Bear books for my son, who loves them just as much as me. Please take peace in knowing your parents were great people and that your parents will continue to touch children's lives forever. God Bless.
March 05, 2012
I read the Berenstain Bear books as a child and now I have children of my own and we read the same books together. Thank you for the great books and wonderful memories.
March 05, 2012
Dear Berenstain Family,

My condolences to you. I was sad to hear of Jan's passing. What a wonderful soul..
Berenstain books were some of my favorites growing up. Always made me smile, and so easy to get lost in. I remember discovering them in my elementary school library when I was about 10 years old. I wondered why I hadn't seen them when I was 'little'. Not wanting to miss out, I read every one I could get ahold of. It also helped having a younger brother and pointing out to my mom which books we borrow from the library for 'him'.
I sought out Berenstain books at the public library when I had children of my own. They were my 'go to' books. Great family stories. Always a positive message to learn--for any age.
My now grown-up children also have very fond memories Berenstain books. Their books are saved to hand down one day : )
Thank you to the Berenstain Family for sharing Stan and Jan with so many children, and the child in all of us. They truly helped make the world a better place. Although they are not with us, Stan and Jan's legacy will live on in the stories, and memories of so many.

Thank-you, Stan and Jan Berenstain

~God Bless~
March 05, 2012

To the Berenstain family,
For years the Berenstains were one of the favorites
the children took out the most during my employment at my local library. You can just imagine the joy on their faces as they were reading or had the book read to them.
She, Jan Berenstain is now at rest but her work and Stan Berenstain's work will live on.
May God be with you doing your time of grief.
March 02, 2012
I love these books. I love the characters and stories from all the years. For about 5 years during my childhood they were all I wanted to hear when I went to bed. I remember getting Mama and Papa's "autograph" when I was about 7 when they came to a local book store. It was so special to me. I saved all of my books and now I'm sharing them with my daughter. Many nights I go in her room after bedtime to see that she has several of them in her bed. These books were so special to me as I was growing up. So special in fact, that I continued to buy them even beyond childhood. Thank you for writing these amazing stories about life lessons and values.
March 02, 2012

March 02, 2012
We have been enjoying her work for the last 20 years. I have older children who are in their 20's and they watched the videos and read the books constantly. Now we have a 3 year old and she too loves the Bear Family. I know she loved her family because her love flowed through the Bear Family and that allowed anyone who reads her books to share her life. Her children should be very proud of the accomplishment that she had in her life and she is ranked right up there with Dr. Seuss in her contribution to children's literature. God Bless the entire Berenstain Family.

Dear Berenstain Children,

I'm so sad to hear of the passing of Mama Bear. I can still see the excitement in the face of my daughter Sarah, as a pre-schooler, when I would read your lovely, beautifully told stores to her. She is 30 years old now. She is a wonderful mom. Your mom's and dad's stories had a wonderful impact on her. I know that many parents feel the same. We will miss Mama Bear and Papa Bear.

God Bless You.

To the Berenstain Family -

We can't begin to tell you how much your beloved books and characters have meant to our youngest daughter Sarah. Sarah is 8 years old, has Down syndrome, and just completed 2.5 years of chemo treatment for leukemia. Sarah has adored The Berenstain Bears' books since she was about 3 years old, and by the age of 5 she was obsessed. When Sarah was first diagnosed with cancer and in the hospital for a month, it was DVD's of your TV show that brought her the most comfort. Learning to read was something that did not come easily for Sarah, but she was determined that she was going to be able to read her Bear Books (as she calls them) all by herself. Sarah now reads well beyond expectation, and her favorite books continue to be yours. The librarian of her school even commented on one of Sarah's report cards about her love for your books.

Thank you for the unending hours of joy that you brought to our peanut when she needed it most. Your books have woven themselves into the fabric of our family, and they will always hold a special place for us.
February 28, 2012
My sincere condolences to the Berenstain family. When we were young, we would read and re-read these books aloud to our younger siblings. My youngest sister had many Bear books memorized before she could read... you have been a permanent fixture in our home for decades. Rest in Peace.
February 28, 2012
We love your books and love to watch them on TV, so sorry for your loss.
February 28, 2012
On the first week of school, I always begin the year by introducing the Berenstain Bears to my first grade students. I was saddened by Stan's death at the time and I assured my students that Jan would continue the work of creating more wonderful stories that we have come to love at school. Tomorrow morning will be another sad day for my class. I am very thankful for such wonderful sons to continue their legacy. And I will continue as a teacher of 31 years to add to my treasured collection of Berenstain Bears. May God continue to bless all of your family down a sunny dirt road. Dolly Ann Toews (Alice, Texas)

When my son was in pre-school, his favorite book was "The Big Road Race." If I had a quarter for each time he made me read that book to him, I'd be very wealthy! Now that he's a father, I gave him that book. It's tattered and falling apart, but I'm sure my grandson will enjoy it as much as my son did.

I'm praying for God to bring you and your families peace during this difficult time.

Thank you for sharing your parents and family with us! We have personally been blessed by you all for over 3 decades, long before we even knew each other. Now Berenstain Bears is part of our family...often serving as a launchpad for deeper conversations. I lost both my parents recently, and know that no legacy or words can replace the real life touch and words of those we love. And no one can ever replace our mom (or dad). Just know you are all in our prayers, and will continue to be so as your grieve your loss. In time, we hope you will take comfort in the many memories you all shared, in your mom's love that continues to live on within you, and in the wonderful legacy you and they have left for your children, and for so many children around the world. We lift you up in prayers of comfort, healing, and hope.

Dear Mike and Leo,
Your parents helped me to be a good parent. The books they wrote are an easy springboard to discussion to help bring up our children to be good, decent, and may I even say, Christian people. The world is a better place because of your parents. May God bless you and your families in this time of sorrow.

My heart is heavy this day. But the sadness is assuaged with the thought that the love and kindness Stan and Jan espoused, through each of their wonderful books, will live on and on. I raised a truly wonderful daughter with many of the lessons we'd read about in all of the books. She's 32 now and about to give birth to my first grandchild. I shall share the Bears books with little Poppy as well. The world is a better place because Jan came through. Thank you for your gift. Enjoy your wings. Oh how grateful I am for The Berenstein's contribution to generations of children...Although my boys are in their 20's now, I remember how many life's lessons were taught to them by reading the books. I'll never forget being in line w/ them at the grocery store and another child was having a temper tantrum over wanting something, and my son whispered to me that the child had "the Greedy gimme's".....Christie Italiano-Thomas and sons!!!
February 27, 2012

Like Job we can all look forward to a time when God will call and we will answer.”
