Rest in peace, Ken. One of the greatest men that I ever met. A true gentleman and ambassador for the sport of golf. His 1964 Open victory, and his incredible broadcasting will never be forgotten. He was a wonderful family man and I am proud to have been able to become his friend. There are few people who lived life so fully, and touched so many others lives. Everyone on Catalina Island still thinks of you Ken. Our hearts go out to all of his family and friends. I feel so honored to have known you. Rest in peace, my friend.

I will always remember the day at Marco Island with you and Beau. Your loving, happy eyes were so welcoming to a new wife on the block( meaning a wife on the PGA Tour). You have me thinking about days watching you with my parents on CBS. God bless you, Ken, for all you gave in classic coverage. Bless your family, too.

May 21, 2013
I remember as a 12 year old boy watching Ken win the U.S.Open on television. He overcame great odds and was victorious. He inspired me to start playing golf and learn all about this great game. Later on I enjoyed his commentary up in the booth with Pat Summerall and Jim Nance. He brought a down to earth, human quality to the tournaments and made it interesting to watch. He also taught all of us not only how to play certain shots with his candid lessons on television but he also taught us about how to be tough but fair in the game of life. He was a great man whom I have always looked up to. I will deeply miss him and my deepest condolences to his family and dear friends. Thank you Ken for all that you gave to all of us !
May 21, 2013

The highlight of my youth was when Ken would come to Mt. Pleasant Golf Course for many years to play in the Eastern Open. The finest iron player I had ever seen. He'll be teeing it up now with Hogan. Tony Lema, and Byron Nelson.

May 20, 2013
In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.
May 20, 2013
I had the pleasure of working with Ken designing golf courses and the surrounding communities. There are so many wonderful attributes I could use to describe this unique man, perhaps the greatest of these was “Class”. Ken was one of the last of a dying breed of true Gentleman, on and off the golf course. God Bless you Ken for the impact you have had on so many and may He comfort your family as we all go through withdrawal from this wonderful man.
May 20, 2013

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
May 20, 2013
I don't usually write in Guest Books of people I've never met. I'm making an exception here, because I remember being at Congressional in 1964 when he won the U.S.Open. Such courage in awful weather conditions. May he Rest In Peace.

To the Venturi Family,
I read Mark Frost's book " The Match ". Once I started reading it I could not put it down. It was the most riveting match between 4 golf legends. Ken will forever be part of professional golf lore. Thoughts and prayers to the entire family.

Ken and Kathleen (Dixie) were a very happy couple in there later years . I had the pleasure of introducing Ken to Kathleen at my restaurant in Rancho Mirge.

To my Brother Tim,

Deepest condolences to you and your family. Your dad was an inspiration to all of us in the "Harold's Golf Group" and we loved when he came to town. I still have a copy (or two) of the magazine article written about our golf group. I know we all had to clean up our act when Ken came to visit and I will forever remember the great lessons we received on the Range. Find peace in the written word of God Timmy and lavish in the thought that we will again be playing golf with your dad, just a much nicer course, and he will have clubs in his hands. Blessings and comfort to your family.
May 19, 2013
I worked for 3 winter golf seasons for Ken @ Marco Island CC. He was always helping us be better golf professionals & had a genuine concern for our well being! He and his wife were very kind & giving people. He kept a lot of his charity work hidden, for he did not want the "limelight" ! He gave back, was a good man, and will be missed! I was fortunate to have gotten to know him. RIP my friend!
May 19, 2013

May 18, 2013
Watched many a golf game with my dad on Sunday afternoons listening to Ken's commentary. I serve as the pastor of a Presbyterian Church just over the fence of the 16th hole at Congressional. I'll give that hole a wave tomorrow in honor of Ken and honor of my dad. Truly, every preacher would rather be golfing on a Sunday morning.

Mr. Venturi passed last night, his was the first golf book I ever read cover to cover about golf. What a great Ambassador of Golf. I sat by him on a plane from the 95 Ryder Cup to Tampa from Rochester and I found him very down to earth and pleasant. I was so nervous but I did thank him, I am sure he would have rather been entrenched in his magazine but he was very affable and Gracious. What a Champion.
