HILLSDALE - Eugene L. "Gene" Pauken, 90, of Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at his home. He was born February 2, 1926 in Maumee, Ohio to Louis and Irene (O'Conner) Pauken. Gene married Gloria Coffman September 3, 1949 and she survives.
Gene graduated from Camden-Frontier High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1945-1947. Gene retired from Allied Products in Hillsdale and in his spare time loved to do fender and auto body work out of his garage at home. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Hillsdale American Legion. Gene will always be remembered by his family for being a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Gloria, Gene is survived by five daughters, Gloria (Robert) Cardinale, Grace (John) Strong, Gina Ferguson, Gwyn (Joe) Barone all of Hillsdale and Gay (Lamar) Ballinger of Jackson; four sons, Gale (Terri) Pauken, Gary Pauken and Greg (Jan) Pauken all of Hillsdale and Gerry (Bonnie) Pauken of Waldron; 31 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruthann (Larry) Hazelswartz of Jackson and Connie (Howard) Young of Hillsdale; two brothers, Fred Pauken of Jackson and Neil Pauken of Hillsdale
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Betty Simons, John "Sneaky Jake" Pauken, Tom Pauken and Walter Pauken.
There will be a memorial service for Gene Pauken at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
