Mildred L. Woodard, age 95, of Jonesville, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. She was born December 9, 1917 in Hudson to Clarence and Myrtie (Burger) Stump. Mildred married Miller H. Woodard on August 30, 1935 and he preceded her in death in November 13, 2001.
Mildred was a member of the Jonesville First Presbyterian Church for 55 years and also a member of the Eastern Stars. She attended Hudson High School. Mildred and her husband, Miller owned and operated the Springtown General Store from 1943 to 1955 and she also worked as store manager at Dancers Department Store in Jonesville. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, square dancing and traveling.
Survivors include three sons, Patrick (Waneta) Woodard of Alpharetta, Georgia, William (Harlene) Woodard of Lake City, Michigan and Tim (Beverly) Woodard of Jonesville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Woodard of Madison, Alabama; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Miller, Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, son, Larry Woodard, sisters Lilybel Beebe and Marie VanWagner, and brothers, J.R. Stump and Bill Stump.
Funeral services for Mildred Woodard will be Monday, October 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jonesville First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Cathy Johnson officiating. Interment will take place at Bankers Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home in Jonesville.
