Gertrude Miller Obituary

Gertrude W. "Gertie" Miller, 89, died at Hilty Memorial Home, Sunday, November 23, 2014, at 7:55 a.m..

She was born on March 11, 1925 in New Bremen, Ohio, one of 10 children to Christian and Lenora (May) Jung. They both preceded her in death.

In 1950, she married Paul C. Geib, who died in May of 1955. She then married Ralph L. Miller in 1958, who died in October 2004.

Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Anna High School, class of 1942. Gertrude was a homemaker, always helping with the family farm. She was a member of the former Columbus Grove United Church of Christ, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and member of the Women's Fellowship. Her favorite thing was family. Her grandchildren meant all the world to her. She gardened and taught all her children how to garden. From milking cows to driving a tractor, Gertrude was always a part of the family and a part of the farm.

Survivors include four sons: Michael R. (Patricia) Geib, New Knoxville, Ohio; Mark (Sherri) Geib, Waldron, Michigan; Merlin V. (Cathy) Geib, Ft. Jennings, Ohio and Maurice G. (Doreen) Miller, Columbus Grove, Ohio; one brother: Ralph (Carolyn) Jung, Sidney, Ohio; five grandchildren: Jeremy Geib, Jennifer Geib, Brent Miller, Ryan (Alisha) Miller and Kendra (Eric) Maag; and five great grandchildren: Hunter Miller, Hailey Miller, Beau Miller, Briggs Maag and Piper Miller.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Lester (Orlaina) Jung, Victor (Ida) Jung, Nelson (Dorothy) Jung and Leon (Virginia) Jung, and four sisters: Frances (Ben) Warner, Madella (Vernon) Heidt, Anna Belle (Richard) Tontrup and LaRose Jung.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio. Pastor Dave Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen, Ohio.

Friends may call on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio.
