Some of my memories of Elder Hamstra:
1. He held evangelistic meetings in the Livonia SDA Church, where he also baptized me.
2. I was often in the Hamstra home as a teenager; their daughter, Karen, is still a close friend.
3. He was there when Art and I got married.
4. He helped Art get into teaching church school.
5. He always had a sense of humor.
6. He was always encouraging.
7.He was an example of the love of Jesus and we look forward to meeting him again when Jesus comes.

Extending my condolences to the Hamstra family. Pastor Ray, as he will be remembered, left a positive imprint on the many lives at the Warren Seventh-day Adventist Church. The legacy of his ministry will go on into eternity. Though having been parted for many years, the memories of family visits to Florida and Petosky will remain cherished ones. One morning soon we will meet again.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family - even though I was very little when he was Pastoring at the WARREN SDA church I still remember him - I attended school with Danny, who was several grades above me. I have not seen Pastor Hamstra since he was transfered but I will always remember how interesting his sermons were. May God bring you peace in your time of sorrow with knowing that Pastor Hamstra play an inspiratonal part in many lives.

I am sorry to here of Pastor Ray's passing.
Ray was my pastor in the late 70's in the Petoskey SDA church. I was in my early teens at the time but to this day remember his big warm smile. I have not seen pastor Ray in many years as after starting my own family we moved to Colorado, but my thoughts and prayers are being said for you the family. It is wonderful to know at the Second coming of our Lord we will be reunited with family that have gone to sleep in the Lord.
