Joseph Walter Boyer, 91, a native and resident of Paradis, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beatrice Cheramie Boyer; daughter, Jelene Boyer Boyd and husband, Bill; granddaughters, Karlie Boyd McDonald and husband, Geary, and Kally Boyd Ganier and husband, Tim; and great-grandchildren, Ruby McDonald and Gavin, Maddyn, and Adalyn Ganier.
He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Boyer; parents, Peter and Lillian Dugas Boyer; brother, Luke Boyer; and sister, Beatrice Boyer LeGrande.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. He was an avid reader, world traveler, and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Boyer, Jelene and Bill. I always enjoyed our conversations at town and country..I admired his honesty and courage. Our country has lost a true patroit.
