As a brand new rookie policeman, I was assigned to accident division in 1976. I HATED it. I sheepishly asked explained to Capt. Milam how I felt. I expected to be bounced out of the office or fired on the spot. Instead, he unexpectedly sat me down, spoke to me on my level and allayed my apprehension. Within a week I was patrolling the streets as requested. He was a kind decent man, I'm forever grateful. Dr Bob Quintano.

I was in my second year at the University of Houston. I was building up speed to get on the Gulf Fwy, and I was exceeding the limit for the feeder. Just after I merged onto the freeway, a HPD motorcycle officer roared up behind me and turned on his lights. As soon as he got off of the cycle, I saw that it was cousin Ellis. In those sunglasses and high boots, he looked about seven feet tall as he approached. Embarrassed, I didn't say a word as I tried to hand him my license. Without looking at my license, he broke into a wide grin, saying "Tommy, when did you get a car?" We spent a few minutes catching up, then he turned to go, saying "Tell your Daddy he owes me some shrimp". Ellis had a great sense of humor, but he was rock solid in every way. A great loss to our families.

It was a pleasure and a joy to know Ellis. He will be greatly missed. May his soul rest with the Eternal Father.

It is a pleasure to have met and known Ellis through Annunciation. Stella can certainly be proud of her husband. Despite his many accomplishments he had the humility to always maintain devotion to Our Lady and total faithfulness to Our Lord Jesus Christ. I am sure he has found mercy with God.
