My prayers goes out to his family and friends.I went to school with him at sam rayburn high in Pasadena, Texas
Devon, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember you from Richfield High School and have loosely followed your career these past 20+ years that I have lived in the Houston area. I am saddened that this time I see your name in the media it is associated with such a great tragedy. You and your children in my prayers.
Please accept my deepest sympathy. The wonderful words of those who knew Mike speaks volumes of his character. I attended high school with him. May the presence of God comfort each of you. My prayers,
I was so looking forward to Mike being the D.A.
His house was caddy-corner from ours in Pasadena.
I recall a time when we was probably 8yrs old and us kids was playing on a lot where they were still building the new homes, Mike & i got in a little disagreement and he told me to stop it and i did cause i knew Mike was a tuff kid.
Last time i saw Mike and the family was at the funeral for my best friend's dad in the neighborhood we grew up in.
I was so looking forward to seeing that tuff kid bring honor & dignity back to the D.A.
If life is measured by the lives you touch and the people that love you then, James lived and long and full life. The beauty of an unselfish life that is used in the service of others is that it is a life that is worth remembering. Faithful people are never forgotten. Malachi 3:16.
From my Mom, Rita Duncan...me, Cathy Duncan , and my daughter, Sierra Watts we send many prayers and condolences. Mike was a dear and loyal friend and colleague of my Dad...Judge Jimmie Duncan. And more recently helped my daughter with a family violence situation. My Mom is seriously ill also or I know she would have reached out to the family during your darkest hour. But know that between my Dad and Mike, they are surely keeping Heaven on time and in check. If there is anything your family needs please don't hesitate to contact me. Again we are sorry for your loss.
JB and family - We are thinking and praying for you.
I only know Judge Anderson for a few years. I recognized his honesty and integrity during this time. It is a shame that such a great person had to leave us. Please except my deepest condolences.
Having lost my Dad just 3 weeks ago, I understand your pain. I totally get it, that indescribable loss. I'm so sorry for your family. I get where you are right now, so lean on your family and friends.
Rest in peace Mr. Anderson
Our prayers are with your family and you. God Bless.
Elizabeth, Katherine, Maggie and Robert Summerlin
My thoughts and prayers are with the Anderson Family. It was a pleasure for over fifteen years to know and work with Mike when he was a Prosecutor in Special Crimes and when he was a District Court Judge, while I was assigned to the HPD Vice Division.
Devon, Mark and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time.
Having only knowing him for a short time while in his court, I learned that he was friendly, funny and a great story teller. His stories were sometimes so serious and other times slide-splitting hilarious. He treated his people like family. I had not felt much pride in working here until he came and made us feel that we didn't have to hide in the shadows and keep our heads down. I thank him for bringing that back to us. He will be greatly missed.
Mike was my boss, my mentor, and my hero. I wlll never forget the personal sacrifices he made to save the office we all love so much. His imprint will be on these halls of justice long into the future, as long as there are prosecutors who remember and pass on to others what he taught us: the great and solemn responsibility of doing your "level best" to secure justice in this, "the Great State of Texas." Devon, Brynn, and Sam, thank you for sharing him with us.
Devon, our thoughts and prayers are with you, Sam and Brynn to give each of you the strength to get you through this most difficult time and the courage to get you through the future.
Love, Rosi & Willie Nunez
We are so sorry for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with Devon, children and all family members. He will be very much missed.

We were saddened to hear of Mike's passing. He was a good man and a wonderful individual. Our city has lost a dedicated leader. We pray Our Lord will grant his family peace at this time, and courage and strength for the future.
It was a pleasure to know such a wonderful person, father, husband and son. My prayers will be with his family. I thank him for his friendship and kindness towards me. He will dearly be missed by all of us.
I've known Mike since we were in the fifth grade. He was a good friend, fun, fiesty, great since of humor and so smart. I was so saddened to hear of his illness and now his passing. My deepest sympathies to his parents, his wife and children, Jan and her family and the many friends he made throughout his life.

We first met Judge Mike Anderson when our 21 year old son was murdered in 2004. He treated our family and trial with such professionalism and respect. We have followed his career and voted for him each time. When our trial judge was assigned several we know who work in law enforcement said we had the very BEST judge in Houston. We couldn't agree more. Our prayers will be with your family. This world has lost a very good man.
My family was fortunate enough to have been neighbors with Mike and Devon. After returning one of their dogs that had escaped for the umpteenth time, we became friends. Our friendship quickly led to the sharing of many meals, family vacations, and campaigns. During this time, we witnessed firsthand how special Mike made all his friends feel. Never waiting to be asked, he offered help whenever and wherever needed. After our families moved away from one another, we saw less of each other. But, every time we ran into Mike thereafter, he made it seem as if no time had passed and our friendship was as strong as ever. I know Mike was blessed when he married his soul-mate. I also know that he was blessed twice more with the birth of his children. He was passionate about justice, as straight a shooter as I have ever met, and a person I am honored to have called a friend. And while my family is praying for Devon, Sam, and Brynn, we also know that Mike is up in heaven looking over them. I am also pretty sure he is up there right now asking what he can do to help.
Our deepest condolences to you and your family. May our Lord send His angels to surround you with peace and comfort. Mike is now free from pain, and dancing on streets of gold.
Prayers and blessings - Ron & Deany
Harris County has lost a dedicated public servant. Paula, Sarah, Leah and myself have lost a friend. Our prayers are with Devon and the children at this time.

I am keeping you in my prayers at this time of sorrow. Mike has always been a leader with a servant's heart. He will be dearly missed.
My heart and prayers go out to you at this time. May God bring peace and comfort to you. How proud you must be to have had such a wonderful person like Mike in your life. What a loving dad and role model for your children.
Mike was truly an inspiration for so many of us. Harris County has suffered a tremendous loss. It was an honor to have known him.
God Bless you all.
Mike will surely be missed. He always had a nice smile and was easy to talk to. I worked on Mike's and Devon's campaigns. I always enjoyed my visits with JB and Carol in church and singing with JB in the choir. May God Bless the entire family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We lost a protector if law and a conservative republican. His service is appreciable and May God console his family and praying to God be mercy on his soul. Amen
Precinct Chair (R)
Mike was great person. Someone I looked up to. Mike was a Husband, father, friend and above all else a man of his word. Mike is a friend that will be deeply missed
Words cannot describe the loss to all of us. I met Mike in 1985 when I was Chief Prosecutor of the 248th District Court and he was assigned as my number 2 for 19 months. Those were some of the best months of my career. Mike was fun to watch work, had a great sense of humor and was good friend as well. He even let me stay over on that sagging bed at his house when we'd been out partying and I needed a place to crash. He has been taken from us way too soon. Watch over the rest of Mike.
The heavens are blessed with a wonderful man. My prayers go to the Anderson Family.
Dear Carol & Family,
I was so saddened to learn of Mike's passing, and my heart goes out to all of you.
Mike was a credit to his family and his community. He was a splendid, public-spirited individual who did much good for Houston and Harris County. He leaves a wonderful legacy.
Please know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers, and I pray that God will comfort and strengthen you in the days ahead.
My deepest sympathies to the entire Anderson Family. We are so sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of Mike and will always be grateful that he married Eric and I. We will keep you all in our prayers.

MY SINCERE SYMPATHY TO MR. ANDERSON"S FAMILY. AT TIMES LIKE THIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS STICK TOGETHER TO KEEP EACH OTHER STRONG. MAY THE TRUE GOD HELP YOU AND GIVE YOU PEACE. ROMANS 15:33
You known a man was a great man when you have never actually met him but you know of his "Greatness". I was working with Harris County when Mr. Anderson was running for office. God used Mr. Anderson to do some wonderful things in the community and the courts. He also used him to touch the lives of many people. Now God has decided to use him in another way. I would like to give my condolences to the Anderson family. May God bless you and keep you close to him during this difficult time.
My prayers go out to his family and friends.
As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
"Well done, good and faithful servant!" The Houston Police Officers' Union mourns the loss of a great man. His willingness to serve the citizens of Harris County will always be appreciated by law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers to Devon, their children, and the entire District Attorney Family.
From my family to yours, you're in our thoughts and prayers.
Mike was a man who cared about his community, his family, and the law. He will be missed. His honesty and clarity of purpose for office of Harris County DA will be model for all who follow. May his family be wrapped in the support of Harris County.
Betty Boren Avery
I served as a juror in Judge Anderson's court in 2007. His passion for the law was very obvious. He was thankful and supportive of the jury. He spent time after the case had ended to answer questions and reiterate his appreciation for our
service. I came away from the experience with a greater appreciation for our legal system and those that make it work everyday, thanks to Judge Anderson. I was more than happy to cast my vote for him as DA of Harris Co and even more thrilled to see him win!! My prayers to his wife and children. May God hold you in his hands and comfort you at this difficult time.
I knew Mike from 5th grade on and he eventually became the judge who swore my son-in-law into the State Bar of Texas 9 years ago. I also lost a mother suddenly when I was 13 and every time I talk to my son in law I will pray for your family Devon. I know how to pray for your children having been through this tragedy myself. I was the one who at our 30th high school reunion for Sam Rayburn, had the child who is Sam's age. Mike and I were the only two 48 yr olds with a 3 yr old at home. Devon, God will take care of you and your family as he did mine. I know how to pray for you and I will everyday.
Judy Montgomery Mitchell
I remember Mike from his days at Pearland Highschool. Always a gentleman, striving toward his wonderful future. Devon and the children, may God be present with you all as the days to come will be difficult without Mike. Remember, his loving, gentle spirit will be with you always..
Love and Blessings,
The Pearland Oiler Track Teams of 1974 - 1977.
Thank you, sir, for your service. You are a bright example for all of us who hope to make the world a better place through compassionate and careful application of the law.

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Anderson. May you be comforted by looking forward to our loving heavenly Father' promise to remove all sicknesses, pains and suffering that sometimes ends in death.
My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Mike was a really special person. I consider myself very privileged and honored to get to know both of you. May you find peace and comfort in the memories that you share. May you find strength in those closest to you. Always here if you need anything.
May the God of all comfort help your family to endure during this time of grief.
Sending many prayers and much love to you and your family. No words are adequate, but I hope you find some comfort in knowing that Mike and all he meant to you will remain in your heart forever.

My deepest, heartfelt sympathy to Mike's family and his colleagues in the DA's office. I had the pleasure of getting to know him through the ALF Criminal Justice class. He was always kind, considerate and fair, willing to listen to all sides. These very qualities made him an excellent DA. Our community has lost a great leader and person. He will be missed.

Mike was one of the best. The Rodeo, Houston and Harris County have lost a wonderful man and a champion for justice. Our prayers, love and support are with Devon. Sam and Brynn.
Prayers and love go out to you. Mike was the big brother on the block when we were children. He was the one who watch after us when we played 4 square or making Christmas tree forts. He will be missed.
Devon, my thoughts and prayers have continued to be with you and your children today. I am so sorry for your loss. I will continue to ask God to comfort you and give you strength. Although I know this is a time of great sadness, I am so thankful for you that you had the experience of having such a wonderful man as your husband and the joy of being parents together in this lifetime. All of your friends from Waco are thinking of you and we love you today just as much as we did 30 years ago.
Thank you, Mike Anderson. Thank you for standing up for justice. Thank you for mentoring so many of us in the law. Thank you for being the example for us all to follow. Thank you for swearing me into the Texas Bar and giving me a code to live by -- both as a attorney and a human being. Your compassion and your humor will be sorely missed.

Michael will be missed by so many. I am proud to have had him as a friend since elementary school. He always took the time to try to help whenever called upon. Prayers for your family.
I knew you as a bright young gentleman at Sam Rayburn when you went to school with my son Trace. I thrilled watching your future take form. You had wonderful role models with your parents and a loving sister. You certainly have left unforgettable footsteps behind and will be sorely missed by all whose path you crossed.
Devon and kids, I am so very sorry for your loss. Mike was one of those people that others immediately felt comfortable being around. He had a personality that said, I want to be your friend, I want to help. I will always cherish his friendship with me on the Speakers Committee. He truly was one of the “good guys.” I will miss him. I know he has a very special place among God's Angels … Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
My thoughts and prayers to Mike's family.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Anderson family. Mike's dad, JB, was my boss 26 years ago, when I was expecting my eldest son. My son has had the honor of working for Mike at the DA's office and has great respect for him. May God grant you peace, healing, and beautiful memories.
My heart is broken. I will miss you my friend. You made such a difference in the life of my son, Jeffery, as his big brother. In fact you had an impact on our entire family by showing your compassion and understanding.
My deepest sympathies to Devon, Sam, Brynn, JB, Carol, Jan, and the entire family. I hope that the good memories will help get you through this difficult time. You are in my prayers. I love you.

Our hearts are saddened by the loss of a good friend. Our prayers go out to Devon, Sam and Brynn. We are here for you and love you!
It was my honor to serve on a jury in Mr. Anderson's court in 2001. He was a fair and honorable man. He came into the jury room after the sentencing and spoke to us to tell us what a good job we did. Even though we were all hurting and crying due to the decision we had made, he made us feel better about it. My deepest condolences to the Anderson Family, the staff of the D.A.'s office, and friends of Mr. Anderson. The city, county, and state have lost a great man.
I sure did enjoy you. You understood the difference between the "black letter" of the law and the spirit of the law. You always knew how to separate the wheat from the chaff when it came to cutting deals on pleas (eg. -there are true bad guy criminals and then there are numbnuts in the wrong place at the wrong time). You were an "old house" aficionado (as I discovered when we ran into one another weekend after weekend at those old-house fixture stores around town) and you knew how to have fun (and not get caught). You also had the great sense to convince Devon to be your wife. God took you way too young. But that's His call. You were strong and steadfast and I can only guess that you instilled those characteristics in your children.
You will discover that your new vantage point is an excellent one for watching over your loved ones remaining on this mortal coil. God Bless.
Job well done sir. Please watch over your family and keep them safe. So sorry you went so young. PEACE BE WITH YOU NOW
We, the City of Houston & Harris County, have suffered a great loss. Mike Anderson, your family, your friends, your co-workers are suffering.
