Years ago I worked at the Texas Research Institute of Mental Science (TRIMS) in one of the clinics where Dr. Schoolar had received a grant. The Omnibus Crime Bill of 1968 provided for treatment of addiction. Later, he became the Director of TRIMS. He taught residents and was open to letting others of us attend. He was both a learned man and a good teacher. When I think of his sonorous voice, I am flooded with memories of that time. I hope in his crossing the river was kind.

I will surely miss our morning conversations on the front porch at the farm. I'll always remember those good times while working with him. From cleaning the barns to building the garden, he was never without a smile on his face while working out there. He always had a story to tell or a lesson to teach me. My favorite job and favorite teacher without a doubt.
