Lee Hargrove Obituary

Lee Merritt Hargrove, went to be with the Lord on Friday, the 26th of July 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lee was born in Austin, Texas on the 4th of June 1951 to William and Beverly Merritt Jr.
Lee graduated with honors from St. John's School in Houston Class of 1969, where she was both a scholar and an athlete. She received a bachelor of arts with honors as well as a bachelor of science in medical technology from the University of Texas at Austin. For many years Lee worked as a registered medical technologist and later in life worked as a paralegal, but her true passion was her family. Lee loved to serve at her church teaching Sunday school, leading small group bible studies, Vacation Bible School, and singing in the church choir. Most recently Lee was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she and her husband were involved with the Boomers Sunday School Class.
Lee is survived by her husband of 40 years, C. David Hargrove; her loving children, Carey Jefferson Hargrove II and wife, Brandi and their daughter, Alexa Lee; Kathryn Kirkman Hargrove and friend, Robert "Randy" Roach Jr. and his son, Harrison; CW2 William Clayton Hargrove and wife, Haley. Lee is also survived by her parents, William and Beverly Merritt Jr.; sister, Lynn Merritt Yarbrough and husband, Richard; brother, William Moore Merritt III and wife, Karen; sister-in-law, Jan Hargrove Habitzreiter and husband, Ron; brother-in-law, Richard M. Hargrove and partner, Jack Hull. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service is to be conducted at half-past one o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 30th of July, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main Street in Houston, where Dr. Bill Heston, Executive Pastor, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Lee's memory may be directed to World Vision, P.O. Box 9716, Federal Way, WA, 98063; the Prison Fellowship Ministry, 7015 Gulf Freeway, #170, Houston, TX, 77087; or the Children's Ministry at First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main Street, Houston, TX, 77004.

Not sure what to say?

My condolences on the loss of Lee. As a fellow Centurion through the Chuck Colson Center, we worked together as Regional Cohort for the Center. She was a pleasure to work with and an inspiration as demonstrated through her many skills and positive attitude. She helped our team keep moving in the right direction and provided great organization skills and keen spiritual insight. She always was concerned about other people and demonstrated a service spirit and spirit-filled life. God bless you and your family. Sincerely.

David,

Please accept my condolences on the passing of your lovely wife Lee, whom I was privileged to have met as an employee of Greystone Asset Management at our functions for the past 6 1/2 years. I know she will always remain very much alive in the memories of all of us who loved, respected, and treasured her.

She may be gone in the flesh, but not in the spirit. She is pain free, dancing around in her new body and praising Our Heavenly Father.

I pray that God will keep you and your family at this time of bereavement, hold you all closely, Comfort you all in the way each one of you need comforting & know as you all greive, cry and miss Lee, God feels it all and He is right there with you all the time even if it do not seem like He is there, HE IS! HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU!

Please convey our heartfelt sympathy to other members of your family.

Sincerely,
Latanya Minix
