Roy James Obituary
1938-2015
Roy Toney James, Jr., passed away on November 30, 2015, in Houston, Texas. He was born in Houston on June 19, 1938. He was the son of Roy T. James, Sr., and Hortense Moers James of Houston, Texas. Roy attended Lamar High School and graduated from Rice University in 1962. He was commissioned in the Army Corps of Engineers and served with the 317th Combat Engineer Battalion in Germany. Later, he served in the 37th Engineer Battalion at Fort Bliss, Texas. After serving in the Army, he entered the business community in Houston, eventually owning Lamps Etc. He engaged in various investment activities, including real estate in the Houston area and in Wimberley, Texas. Roy was a knowledgeable gun collector and avid hunter. He is survived by one brother, John V. James and wife, Martha of San Antonio, Texas; and many cousins. Roy is fortunate in life to have had many close friends from early school days through college, and his military experience, into his business and leisure life. We are thankful for the help and concern of his cousin John Simon Moers, wife Cheryl, and his friends who supported him.
The family will accept friends from 12-2PM on Wednesday, December 2nd at Forest Park Lawndale. A private Interment will immediately follow.
