We shall miss you though we never met. Your research helped our Belt family tree.

The Samuel Norton Allen family owes the discovery of its roots to Walter and our cousin Katherine Allen Harrison, who worked so hard on the genealogy long before computers and instant communication. Many thanks to Walter for sharing so generously with anyone who asked. I have enjoyed our email correspondence for many years and will always be grateful to Walter.

I suppose I'm a distant cousin of Mr. Belt's as well as many others. I am a descendant of Martin Allen, which was shown to me by his work on geneology. I have his book of his work given to me by my mother who corresponded with Mr. Belt. I am grateful for all of his work and am proud of our shared heritage.
Blessings to you, Mrs. Belt and your family!

Dear Belt Family,

My wife Victoria and I were saddened to learn of the passing of my good and great friend, Walter Belt.

Walter and I were bound together with historical interests. I wrote the book about the BATTLE OF MEDINA, August 18, 1813, the bloodiest battle ever fought on Texas soil. Three Allen family relatives of Walter were lost in that fateful battle.

I first came to know Walter in 1988 during the 175th anniversary commemoration of that battle. Since then we became very good friends. Up until a few months before his passing, he was my main email correspondent.

I miss Walter greatly and will always be grateful for the friendship of Walter, his dear wife Virginia, and members of his family

With deepest sympathy,
