I don't like to take up so much of these entries but . I like to write about things like this - Dons wonderful family was there greeting everyone with kindness and passion- the boys stood tall knowing they had their place for their dad- both bridgid and Jessica looked beautiful in their sorrow and when the flag came out it was pure love that I know he had for his children . im going to miss don along with many others- I spent a lot of time with Don the last year-what should be reconized is the LOVE he had for his family despite horrible pain - D.william King
You will always live in our hearts and prayers. May God bless you and your family.
Don and I went to a bluegrass get together with some friends near coleman,wi.years ago. as we entered the gate area a big sign hung in front of us no dogs allowed so I pulled Don to the side and told him to slip on some dark shades-because we never went any where without his beloved german shepard STAR. well star was now a seeing eye dog.anyway during the concert I think it was a speaker that loosened up. so-I turned around people had let out a gasp it was Don climbing up ahuge tower. everything soon went quiet until some gal lets out a scream and yells hey look at that blind guy he can he can climb like crazy. well I laughed so hard I sliped into a mud puddle. it was classic Don.- D. So sorry for the loss of your father; I never met him in person but he adopted Bobtail (Princess) from our backyard and sent us wonderful notes about how she was doing and what a wonderful companion she was. We are thankful beyond words for your Dad to open his heart and his home to Bobtail.
I got to know Don through working at the Lester Public Library. We both shared a laugh or two and we talked about autographs and the Packers. I have since moved on to another employer but I will always remember the times that Don came in to just to talk to me. He was probably one of the few people that I could talk about autographs to. He was my friend and he will be missed.
So sorry for your loss of a good man.
Our prayers with your family. Don, Sr. was one of my Dad's best friends and I know how much he cared about the family. My sympathies to you all.
