I just learned of the passing of Mr.Flegle and was very heartbroken..I stopped in to see Mr.Flegle Aug 2013 when he was in the Hospital; I was in town to pick up a Pelican carving he had done for me a yr earlier and I had not made it up (from Peoria IL area) to pick it up. I have been coming to him for 20 yrs (49 yrs old now), almost every yr to have something carved!! Awesome talent! I have always looked forward to stopping by Two Rivers ,on my way to Door Cty,to see Mr Flegle! He always had a friendly smile and more pics of wood carvings for me to choose from. I would always make a comment of how young he always seemed and was always amazed at his talent!! I would pick up a carving done the yr earlier and end up ordering up another carving to pick up the next yr or sometimes later that same yr??..I was made aware of his health problems after my visit with him in Aug 2013 and decided to make one more visit the next morning to say my goodby's not really wanting to come to terms with knowing I might not get to visit with him again! I have avoided looking up obituaries for Two Rivers for some time!!... I just wanted to say that you are so fortunate to have had such a great Man in all of your lives and am also thankful to have known him! My home is full of reminders of him through all of his woodwork that he has done for me over the yrs and I will always cherish them as well as our friendship! Peace to Mrs. Flegle and God Bless your Family! Sincerely, Rich Barr Groveland IL..

It was an honor to be his granddaughter. I am so proud of my grandpa. He always had a big smile, rosy cheeks, perfect hair and a story to tell. He could make a new friend anywhere he went. He was always welcoming and treated our spouses as if they were his own grandchildren. I cherish the many holidays spent at grandma and grandpa's house...the laughter, the treats, the homemade Christmas presents, and Easter baskets filled with the "good" candy. I will miss him dearly. He loved life and he loved the people in his life--whether he knew them for a day or a lifetime.

Grandma took wonderful care of him. Now it is our turn to take care of her. I know he will be watching all of us closely with a big smile as he is never far from our hearts and minds.

To the family of Howard Flegle: I wish to express my sincere sympathy for your loss. I became acquainted with "Howie & Evie" through my Aunt Milly & Uncle Bob Dodge. I remember from when I was a young child on, he always had a smile on his face ~ much like the one in this photo ~ and a kind word to say. When I was younger and would walk over to Aunt Milly & Uncle Bob's trailer from my parent's trailer up at Cheudier's Dock (sp?) and Howie & Evie would be visiting them, he would always try to make me laugh. Granted, he was a "jokester," so he didn't have to try very hard! When he smiled, he always had a twinkle in his eye that made you thing 'he was up to something!' May God bless all of you, and be with you in your time of grief. May your many memories of your loved one sustain you, and may God welcome Howie into His Heaven, where He surely has a place reserved just for him.

Sincerely,

Amy L. Dodge

You had a little boy. Side by side you guided, trained and shared your wisdom, humor, talents, hobbies and faith with him. In 1970 you gave a man to me who follows your footsteps, shares your talent, generosity, humor and devotion to God and Family. He will continue sharing with us, keeping you in our heart and home and watching over Mom. Our love continues. You did great! Your daughter-in-law.
