Stradal, Ruth "Boots"
Mrs. James (Ruth "Boots") Stradal Sr. age 86, formerly of Branch and a resident of the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center of Manitowoc, died peacefully early Saturday morning, December 8, 2012.
Ruth was born on May 19, 1926 in the Town of Cato, daughter of the late Edward and Bertha (Riederer) Staudinger Sr. She grew up in Clarks Mills. On June 14, 1947 Ruth was married to James Stradal at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clarks Mills. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage this past June. The couple farmed at Branch and she retired in November of 1988 from Holy Family Hospital Lab. Grandma Boots enjoyed farming and was known for her great cooking and baking. She loved having family and friends over, always cooking up a great meal that had to include her special poppy seed cake and kolaches. The evening always ended with a spirited game of sheepshead. Boots enjoyed crocheting, bingo, making afgans for family and friends and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who always called her Nana.
Boots is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Rosary Society, Kubale-O'Connell VFW Post #6179 Auxiliary of Kellnersville, Whitelaw Homemakers, Whitelaw-Branch Senior Citizens, Branch Good Cheer Homemakers and in the past was a 4-H Leader for the Branch Busy Bees 4-H Club and a member of the Whitelaw-Branch Snowmobile Club.
Survivors include her beloved husband: James Stradal Sr., Manitowoc; one son: Jim Stradal Jr. and Gail Freitag of Crivitz and his children and grandchildren: Jim (Tammy) Stradal (Phillip & Miranda); Jeremy (Lana) Stradal (MaKayla); Josh (Heidi) Stradal (Gavin, Abby & Jack); Jacob (Jody) Stradal; one daughter and son-in-law: Cindy (Wayne) Novy of Whitelaw and their children and grandchildren: Jamie Novy (Jadelyn); Joe (Sheila) Novy (Emma, Mallory & Dylan); Jackie Novy and Donnie Whetung; one son-in-law: Kenneth Porubcansky of Whitelaw; and his children and grandchild: Randy Porubcansky and Brenda Koeser (Shiloh); Jason Porubcansky; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Ed (Eileen) Staudinger Jr., Clarks Mills; Corrine Staudinger, Clarks Mills; one sister: Joyce Rhode, Whitelaw; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Betty (Vic) Kvitek, Maribel; Joe (Germaine) Stradal, Whitelaw; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward (Bertha) Staudinger Sr.; her daughter: Nancy Porubcansky; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Leonard (Caroline) Staudiunger, Paul Staudinger;; three sisters and four brothers-in-law: Gladys (Adolph) Bergel, Bernice (Ed) Glaeser, Dorothy (Howard) Birkholz, John Rhode; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Mary Ann (Richard) Rhode.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. The Rev. Ronald Colombo will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com . Please accept my whole hearted condolences on your loose of Boots. I remember her from HFH and also our garden at your home. My wife Lois and Boots worked many years in the Lab.
