February 9, 2019 We are saddened to learn of Amanda's passing. Our children grew up in Piedmont together. May God give her whole family comfort as they grieve. Tom and Judy Odom, Huntsville, AL February 8, 2019 I met Amanda on the beach at Holiday Homes, Pensacola, Florida. She was nine and I was ten. We became fast friends. We both loved Broadway musicals. In 1959 I produced South Pacific out of my garage on Montdale Road. I was Emil DeBeq. Amanda was Nellie Forbush. We did Cole Porter's Can Can the next year. In 1961, Amanda was Guinevere to my Arthur in Camelot. We did the show two nights in her family basement with a large crowd each night.
I did not know Amanda as an adolescent or an adult, but in my childhood, she was my muse. Can you imagine Amanda Thrasher singing I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair? Well, she did that at age ten and I was there. She was wonderful.
Amanda will always be my favorite Nellie Forbush. I send much love to all her family. Joe Payne, St. Albans, VT Contact Me February 8, 2019 butch/jerry damson, huntsville, AL February 8, 2019 My deepest sympathies. May the God of all the entire family during this time of sorrow. Always remember that God keeps in his memory those whom we lose because they are precious in his eyes. (Psalms 116:15)
