My sincere sympathy in losing a most talented, dedicated scientist and historian. I will remember Fred for his help with the placement of my husband, Saunders' professional papers in the UAH Salmon Library. May you find solace in all the great contributions Fred has made in the space program.
Sincerely,
Elissa T. Kramer

My sincere condolence to the Ordway family in the passing of Fred. Saunders Kramer, my deceased husband, was one of the many colleagues that Fred shared their many stories, and expertise on space exploration. I am especially indebted to Fred for his gracious assistance with the placement of my husband's professional papers in the UAH library archives. I have fond memories of the many occasions we met and engaged in space conversations. May his family find solace in the great contributions he has made to the space program.

Our sincere sympathy in the passing of your wonderful father. We regret that we were on a plane for Germany, otherwise we would have attended the celebration of life. We will visit upon our return to Huntsville in early 2015. Be strong in this time of great sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Fred, and your entire family. Barbara Hoelzer-Beck & Klaus-Peter Beck.

In 1970 Fred got a letter from an upstart kid who was starting as a writer and wanted to research some of materials on 2001 while in Huntsville to do a story on Skylab. Fred graciously invited me to come by his office at UAH and helped start my career as a science writer. About 14 years later he invited me to work with him on revising the History of Rocketry and Space Travel that he and Wernher von Braun had written in the 1960s. I know that I am just one of many people whom he helped over the years. Thank you, Fred, for a bigger boost than a Saturn rocket could have given me. You are missed and remembered.

My father, Peer Fossen, was the assistant editor of Missiles and Rockets Magazine & worked with Mr. Ordway in the late 50s.

I didn't know dad all that well and this period of time of his life was a mystery to me. I wasn't born until 1961 & he passed away 30 years ago.

For sometime now, I've wanted to know much more about dad and what he did before I was born.

Mr. Ordway was a vital link to dad and to those mid 50s Washington DC era stories that he shared with me.

I am eternally grateful to Mr. Ordway for this recent gift of time, phone conversation, email and recollection that he gave to me.

I wish I could have met him but today I honor Mr. Ordway, honor my dad and honor the time and work they shared.
