Ed fly with the Eagles
I would have written sooner, but just received word of his death.

I had the honor of meeting Ed at a book unveiling in Boise in 2002.
He was a true hero to us all, he went above and beyond the call of duty and in so doing saved a lot of his comrades lives.
I only wish we had more American's like Ed, it would be a better world.

My condolences to the family.

I've just learned of Mr. Freeman' passing and my heart sank at the loss of yet another hero. Though I did not know him in life, I salute him in death. The world is a sadder place. RIP Mr.Freeman :(

I just learned of this remarkable man and of his courage. His valor will be remembered and honored. I will pass his story on to my children, especially to my son who is serving a second tour of duty in Iraq, who I am sure will be inspired by Major Freeman.

I don't really watch our local news, although I do scan the Statesman online. I am ashamed that I just learned of this hero's passing, via an email from a friend in Michigan.

Thank you, Major & Mrs. Freeman, for your service & sacrifice to our Country.

It is an Honor to Honor such a brave man. He went above and beyond the call of duty, going where others would not to rescue the soldiers on the ground. We have honored Mr. Freeman on our website called War: Memories-N-Heroes. Heres the site:

Capt. Freeman is a true hero of the Vietnam War. Men like him are few and far between. We recently had the company of two current wounded warriors in our community over the Christmas holidays and it was a moving experience to get to know of there efforts and losses.

I learned of Ed thru the email like many others. I looked up his actual MOH citation and shared it with others. Capt. Ed Freeman exemplified the word HERO and may he long be remembered as such. He was one of the Great Americans we all like to think of. He is now one of my all time Heros.

Great Man and Real American Hero. Our country has lost a very special person. I wish he was in my family. I got a email about him from a coworker a retired Coast Guard, and I really appreciated it, this is the real meaning of Thanksgiving for me.

God bless him and family. My Condolences to you all.

To be in the presence of Ed Freeman was to be in the presence of a True American Hero. He never considered himself a Hero. He said he was just doing his job. Thank God for men like him that just do their job. I am proud to have known him and was able to call him my friend. I think God needed a Pilot and he called for the best.
