The Sutton kids were our closest cousins geographically. Each time my mother had a baby, Gertie had one shortly after, even the same sex, so we each had a friend....then Gertie had Tom, and my Mom was through! Lol. My brother Ken and John set up a campfire in John's upstairs bedroom, after all, it was on linoleum and of course we all know that's fireproof! Gertie put up with all the mischief and even got lots of laughs out of most things. The girls were not as mischievous but sure were a lot of fun! I always felt right at home with their family. Wayne and Gertie were great people and fun to stay with.
In later years my mother was widowed and she would always pick Gertie up for church and they would go to lunch after church with other widows. Mom was the driver. Now they are together in heaven enjoying each other again, while we sorrow for their absence here.
My loved Gertie, and our condolences go out to Gerties's children, grands and great grands! You were blessed with a wonderful hard working Mom. She left you great footprints to follow. I know she will be watching for each of you as you come home to be reunited with her and your Dad. She left a good trail, follow it, you know where she is and how to get there. Love you all!
