Chuck was such a good, good person, and such an important part of our family for over 50 years! I loved talking football with him; listening to his hunting stories; listening to his theories on religion; hearing his jokes (he loved puns); going out for lunch; his phone calls to tell us about his grandchildren or talk about Ohio State or Nebraska football, and just generally soaking up his goodness. I will miss you Chuck but remember--send us a signal--we're waiting to hear from you!

I am very sad to hear the news about Chuck, but I am glad that he had an amazing life and his legacy is his beautiful family and all of the people he helped and loved. Chuck could talk with anyone about anything and he had great stories and a wonderful sense of humor. To anyone who knew Chuck he was an amazing doctor, friend, and hero. I always appreciated how kind and helpful he was to my family and me. (He cared for my family and me as if we were his family and he was family to us.) Chuck was so helpful, so kind, so caring and will be missed so much. Chuck may not have been religious or believed in the afterlife, but if God is love then Chuck was god.

Oh no! Not Dr. Howarth! I am so very, very sad. Over 50 years ago, when I was in the 4th grade, I was told by an optomitrist that I need to wear bifocals! I was then taken to Dr. Howarth, and I will never forget his words: Kathy, you aren't going to need bifocals for 50 years! He took care of my family and I until he retired. I have never quit wishing he were still my eye doctor. He always took time to visit, and he always provided the best care. My eyes were in such good hands during those years. He was an amazing person, and I feel such a loss!

To the Howarth family,
I have many fond memories of Chuck!! I also remember and still share some of the many jokes that he told me. The last time that I saw Chuck was a few years ago and he gave me a huge bear hug and asked to see my newborn baby that was in my car. He gently rubbed the face and feet of my little boy and said that he was a blessing and to love him always. Although I haven't had contact with Chuck in some time I was saddened to hear about his passing!!Love to all of you in this time of sadness.
