The USS Sea Robin SS-407 Association mourns the loss of our SHIPMATE Joe Belmont. Joe served aboard this submarine as QM3(SS) in 1948 and was well liked and respected. He will be missed by all of his shipmates and remembered at all of our future meeting and gatherings.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friend and shipmates.

Sailor, rest your oar.

Joe - if you knew Joe - "nuff said and if you did not the book is not big enough. Joe and I developed a great relationship through aviation. In my personal life he was a friend beyond description and the best man in Leonard's and my wedding. Joe was instrumental in making me who I am today and I hope I made his life a bit nicer as well. Save me a seat, Joe. Shay Hoffman ATP

Joe was my best buddy throughout my adult life. We shared more experiences than I could ever describe. One, I recall, happened at Malden,Mo.where we were in pilot training school. On my first solo day, the group was going to throw me in the swimming pool after supper. I told Joe that I would not allow it and would take half the guys with me. He said, "Relax, this is not a challenge, but a tradition." God Bless him.
