To the family, I am sorry for your loss. I do not know any of you but I have a question. Was there a T. Lavin or another J. Lavin in your family? The reason I am asking is that when cleaning out my attic to move, I found a book called Carpenter's Geographical Reader and the name written in it looks like T. Lavin. It was published in 1898 and is stamped Rathdrum High School. I'm sorry to use this venue to ask but I thought you would get this message if I wrote it here. My email address is alougheed@cccomm.net if you would like to speak. I found it in with things from my late husband's grandmother's things. Her name was Maude Curd and she lived in Fernwood. Anyway, I am truly sorry for your loss. I have had many recently as well so I know if T. (or J.) Lavin is a relative you might want this book. I would be happy to mail it to you.
Thank you.

We knew Jack through my work at the BLM, and Jack was a regular customer at our business. He was always so cheerful and had a smile for everyone. He will be missed. We are snowbirds, and I just ran across this obituary. Sorry for the delay in responding.

Can't believe after 3 months I finally ran across this. I met Jack when I was turning 6 years old, next door neighbors in Cody, and through the years our families stayed very close, and he became a 2nd Dad. I will cherish my birthday and anniversary cards that Souci taught him to take over when she was sick. There was a "system" to Souci's lists! Our world was made a better place with Jack & Souci's presence. Being called their 3rd daughter was such an honor. I miss them, but they left a little of them in each of us. I still find myself thinking "oh I have to call Jack & Souci and tell them such and such".... We need to pay it forward with the Jack & Souci vibe!

Being the faithful Catholic that he was and delightful Irishman too, Jack would surely appreciate that he embodied every aspect of being a mensch! Few people leave as large an impression for being so slight in physical stature - Jack transcended everything! He and Souci were a blessing to everyone they ever encountered. May we all bring their embrace of happiness forward in life!

Jack. . . . what a dear, dear person! We knew him so shortly, but felt like we had known him for years. His Irish humor and is love of his family and the environment were unchallenged. Good bye, Jack! We will always love you here in Houghton.
