John (Jack) Winfred Hezeltine
1928 - 2013
John (Jack) Winfred Hezeltine, 85, of Emmett, Idaho passed away May 9, 2013 at home of natural causes. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Elsie Smith Hezeltine, Brothers Alfred, Wade and Bob Hezeltine, Sister Joyce Tyree and two grandchildren. Jack's early years were spent in Emmett, Idaho growing up on a farm .He served in the Navy on a destroyer from 1944 - 1949 being honorably discharged. He returned to Emmett to finish high school and raise a family. His early work years were spent farming and working at the mill. Dad and his crew painted the old sawmill using several hundred gallons of barn red paint. He worked as a truck driver for Hood Corporation. His last work years were spent with Bechtell Corp rebuilding the Cascade dam. It was at Cascade that he fine-tuned his fishing skills where taught many a worm how to swim. Fish feared him and people loved him. Jack is survived by his sons Jack W.H. Hezeltine of Boise, ID, John C Hezeltine (Caroline) of Nampa, ID, Jim Hezeltine (Anna) of Cottonwood, AZ and daughter Jeanie (Art) Scovill of Marsing, ID., brother, Reverend Donald Hezeltine (Dorothy) of Weiser, ID and sister Phyllis Houtz of Emmett, ID. He is also survived by five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Emmett VFW or the Emmett United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday May 16 at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Burial will follow at the Emmett Cemetery.
