Not sure what to say?

I am profoundly saddened to hear about my very good friend Ken passing away. It has taken me three days to gather my thoughts and to express what sadness this brings to me and so many people who knew Ken. He was foremost a classy guy. He had impeccable manners and was the easiest person to talk to. He was also one of the sincerest and honest people I have ever known. During our AWACS years, I don't believe a day ever passed that we didn't at least speak on the phone. Ken was generous. He was always there and was thinking about others. My heart goes out to you Dylan. I know you had one the best dads anyone could possibly have.

I flew with Kenny in the 964th at Tinker and in Alaska in the 962nd. I have thought about him regularly through the years simply because it was all good memories flying with him. Since retirement, I've thought that if there was any one person I'd like to go see from the Air Force, it was Kenny.

May he rest in peace.

Throughout the last five plus years I had interacted with Ken via many emails and phone calls, in support of a lot of P5 work. Lot's of great conversations and good laughs; you'll be missed. RIP.

So sorry to hear this. He was one of my favorite characters in AWACS and in my squadron, the 964th AWACS. We loved to call him "Snordvic" for his Viking type appearance and his mustache that was always out of regulation. His weakness for Long Island Ice Tea was noteworthy. He will be missed. So very sorry to find out about Ken's death in January. He was a close family friend during our time at Tinker Air Force Base where he and my husband Phil Barbee worked side by side in AWACS for many hours. They were affectionatly known as "Ken and Barbee". If Ken was not TDY with Phil, he always did "welfare" calls to me and my young daughter to make sure we were doing well while Phil was gone. He fixed a leak under our kitchen sink then built Shayna,(my daughter who was 3-4 years old at the time) a big snow man in the front yard. He was always there for our family at any time. In recent times, Ken and Phil kept in touch via email, when Phil didn't hear from Ken for over a month, he became concerned and searched the internet to look for information about Ken. This is how he learned of Ken's death. Needless to say we are shocked and saddened, Phil is distraught over his long time brother in arms' death. They traveled the world together, worked side by side and were kindred spirits. We too, feel the colorless void.....

I just found out that Ken -my training partner and fellow crew member on AWACS, passed away in January. I'm so shocked and saddened by this news. I've been wondering why my emails were going unanswered. Kenny, I know you're up there with Scaifer now. God Speed my friend. Phil Barbee (Klaus)

I worked across the hall from Ken and we talked all the time. He made me laugh and I made him laugh talking about politics, sports, military stuff, the crazy Idaho weather, etc. He was a great friend and I will the crazy laughs and conversations we had. God bless you Ken and may you RIP.

Ken was an Awesome guy! We would go to lunch every other Friday for the past five years. Just to enjoy our time on Mountain Home AFB and talk sports and anything that crossed our mind. I considered him a close friend that would definitely help you any way he could.I know he was a Heinz Ketchup fan, that he loved putting it on a lot of different foods. Last but not least he was a die hard Minnesota sports fan from the Vikings to the Gophers. One last thing, he spoke many time of his son Dylan and that he is so proud of his accomplishments. I will miss his friendship.

I will miss you for the rest of my life, Dad. You were my best friend and knew me like no other. I don't know how this happened or how I'm going to make it through this without you, but I will. I will live my life with you in my heart and someday become the person you always knew I could be. I love you, Dad.
