Ken Carlson, 93 of Boise died at Vibra Hospital August 9, 2013.
He was born July 13, 1920 in Mead, Co of Swedish immigrants; John B Carlson and Elna M Fingle.
Ken graduated from Mead high School; Colorado School of Mines , and attended Univ. of Arizona. He served his country as Lt(jg) in the U.S. Navy during WW II as Safety Officer at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, Ca.
Upon graduating from Colorado School of Mines, Ingersoll-Rand Company recruited him as Sales Engineer. During that time, he worked in Dallas, Texas where he met and married Fai Carlisle. They were later transferred to New York City and resided in New Jersey from 1957 until 1962. Ken rode a commuter train four hours a day in and out of New York City during their five year stint in that area. They were then transferred to Boise in 1962 until 1965 they transferred to Portland, Oregon residing in Lake Oswego and then transferred to Eugene, Oregon where Ken managed IR's Loggers & Contractors. He then retired and they moved back to Boise in 1972 and helped found C&A Equipment Company located in Garden City now for 41 years where Ken worked until his last hospitalization in mid June.
In the summertime, Ken and Fai could be seen heading to fishing holes in the beautiful mountains of Idaho; their favorite place - Deadwood Reservoir for those wonderful kokanee. Ken was an enthusiastic skier and he and Fai enjoyed Bogus Basin, Sun Valley, Jackson hole and also many Oregon ski areas.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Roy of Dallas and John E of Denver. He is survived by his wife, Fai of 59-1/2 years; two sons, Vic (Seira) of Portland, Or. And Bill of Boise. Also, two grandsons Tyler and Chad and five great grandchildren: Jake; Sophia; Ellee; Emma; Treston: all of Portland area.
The family would like to thank Dr. Raymond Hooft who so diligently cared for Ken for many years.

A military funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
