Larry B. Gillmore
1929 - 2013
Larry B. Gilmore, 83, of Eagle, passed away, peacefully, in his sleep, on Thursday, May 9, 2013 of kidney failure. He wrote the following obituary in anticipation of his death.
I was born to Lloyd B. and Helen A. Gilmore in Baker, Oregon on October 30, 1929. I liked to joke that I was born a child of the depression, was a teenager in WWII, and was just ripe for the Korean War. I spent 1 ½ years with the Army in Germany, being honorably discharged in January of 1953. I graduated from Oregon State with a BS in 1955 and obtained my MS in 1956. I then went to work for General Dynamics in San Diego and remained there for 32 ½ years until my retirement in 1990. I worked on the Atlas and Centaur programs, and was the lead program planner in developing Cruise Missiles. I married Sharon Loftis Boni in 1984, and leave her behind along with our daughter, LeAnn (Joe) and granddaughter, Carlee. Sharon and I moved from San Diego to Eagle, Idaho in 2003 where we continued to enjoy our retirement together.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Orchard and all of the caring people at the Boise VA Hospital as well as Dr. Melea and the staff at Da Vita Dialysis Center.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery, 10101 N. Horseshoe Bend Road in Boise.
The family requests no flowers and suggests any memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
