Steve Appleton's father Bob Appleton was my golf partner in Southern California. We shared many rounds of golf and he always would express how proud he was of all his family members. Upon learning that I was a pilot, informed me that his son Steven was an avid aviator and arranged for Steve to visit Cailfornia. Steve, at the request of his Father flew his Hunter Hawker to San Bernardino International Airport and offered me seat time in the beautiful plane. Steve was gracious and patient with me and soon after takeoff handed me the flight controls and said "you have one hours worth of fuel on board so lets have some fun". Needless to say you need not ask me twice. Steve granted every pilots dream by allowing me to "play fighter pilot" even for a short while. Steve changed my life forever and was often in my thoughts reliving the day we flew. Like most of us I heard the tragic news on the evening news and my stomach turned and tears welled up in my eyes. Steve had a wonderful view of life and even though our time together was short, always expressed his love for his family, friends and flying. Our world was a better place having Steve in it, for he touched many lives. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to his family and co-workers. Godspeed Steve Appleton he will be dearly missed by all.

I first met Steve at an airshow in San Bernardino in 1999. He seemed to be very much at home sitting in his Hawker Hunter before his performance. I always enjoyed visiting the hanger at Boise.
