Bernadine A. "Deanie" Gorton
77, of Indianapolis, passed away January 28, 2014. She was born June 30, 1936 to the late Anthony and Naomi Whitesell Uphaus. Deanie married Lawrence W. Gorton, February 21, 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of Little Flower Catholic Church where she coached Volleyball for many years. Deanie served on the Board of Community Little League for several years, where she met many of her dear friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma and was loved by all who knew her, never meeting a stranger.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel , 5377 E. Washington St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church.
Deanie is survived by her loving husband of nearly 59 years, Lawrence W. Gorton; devoted children, Joe Gorton (Terry), Billy Gorton (Cathy), Susan Smith (Rick), Lori A. Gorton, Jill E. Gorton, and Jake A. Gorton (Teresa); a sister, Jane E. York; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A son, Scott Gorton; a sister, Judy Leopard; and a nephew, Jeffrey York, preceded her in death.
