Not sure what to say?

What a terrible loss.
I still think of her. I still wonder, what if...
I remember our first time together. The concert by Fiona Apple. Starbucks.
Laughing.
What a great natural beauty.
Wish we had more time.
Shine on.

Dear Pamela,
I feel like I betrayed you, because we'd lost touch for so long, and so much so that when you left this world, well, years had gone by. So, I guess in a way, in all of these years that others were able to grieve losing you, I was oblivious to your absence, and that feels wrong. You were very much still alive in MY life and mind. As far as I was concerned, my Pamela, you were just out there somewhere conquering your dreams, OUR dreams; at least, that was MY reality. So, you never left me...not from the time I was 18 and you snuck me into that party at the Hyatt, painting together, traveling together, Indy, Denver, Malibu, where you went I followed, Aspen... ...and it never stopped. Until it did.

And, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I let you life come between us. I should have been there. I miss you, always did. I love you, you were one of my best friends in my life. Thank you for showing me I was good enough and sharing your art with me. I wish I could honor you and keep it alive... we were rockstars. I will carry you with me because in my heart you still talk to me, and whatever it was that took you away from us, I'm most sorry that people may have only known a glimmer of you, not the the true vivid Pamela that you let so few see. SO, until I can figure out how to honor your work by washing off the dusty brushes to put the colors where you taught me to put them, I will consider you to be away, on a trip. And soon enough, I will see you again, not yet, dear friend, not yet.

Death Is Nothing At All

By Henry Scott-HollandMore Henry Scott-Holland

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.

Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.

Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.

All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

May 12, 2017

Miss you Pam! Heaven is a brighter place with your smile.

To My Princesses Pamela,
It's Nathan W. your darkroom tech and photo assistant from 97' to 99'.
For those few years you were the love of my life, and a light that shines brightly deep within me even to this day. I always thought we would talk again. Hoped that we would create art again together. For the last few months I have been torn in two, knowing that you are gone. I always imagined your life going on with out me, and how big and fabulous it must be. Pamela, please forgive me for not keeping in touch.
I will see you as soon as I am done down here, I promise.
With Love and many tears,
Nathan W.

My name is Erin and I first met Pamela when I was only a teen in Indianapolis and she was THE first professional photographer to shoot me for my agent Helen Wells. We became friends and I felt so honored to be invited to her old studio and then her new apartment on or off Meridian to parties and to hang out where i met her family. we stayed in touch then lost touch eventually and now how i wish we hadn't. I moved to Los Angeles, her to Colorado. I wish ther had been Facebook then or I'd made more of an effort. She was and is a beautiful soul. and a visionary.

I worked briefly for Pamela (after graduating from college in 1993) at her Indianapolis studio in the Faris building. I did mostly darkroom work, but remember that it was the most exciting and interesting job I'd had at that time. Hard to believe that Pamela was only 2 years older than I am; she had so much drive and seemed to know just where she wanted to go (I was still figuring all of that out!). She was enthusiastic about my own artistic endeavors and I thought she was an amazing portrait photographer. I remember Penny; and Paris when she was very young. I stumbled across Pamela's obituary today and am left with many questions and in total shock. My sympathy to her family. I can't believe it.

To Pamela, I am shocked and saddened to hear about this sad news. I will always remember getting to know her while at the Faris Building, Indianapolis. She was one of the best photographers I had known. I appreciate the help and leads she gave me before she moved to Colorado. She was very generous and an all around beautiful person. She will be truly missed.

Away

I cannot say and I will not say
That she is dead, she is just away.
With a cheery smile and a wave of hand
She has wandered into an unknown land;
And left us dreaming how very fair
Its needs must be, since she lingers there.

And you-oh you, who the wildest yearn
From the old-time step and the glad return-
Think of her faring on, as dear
In the love of there, as the love of here
Think of her still the same way, I say;
She is not dead, she is just away.

Love you Pam,your gone but not forgotten.

I will never forget the day we met Pamela! She came to our home, on a beautiful summer
day. Getting ready for Christmas Cards in August- She was SOOO BEAUTIFUL& FUN!! We spoke allot that year, she was moving to London. We were excited for her, yet sorry to lose a new friend. We lost track of each other. I recently heard she was back, and was looking forward to her maybe taking some pics for us again. That was not to be.. In High School I felt like the 3 amigos (you, Bet & I).Having the time of our lives. We had great adventures together (on our road trips w/Jack) but only for a short time before we parted ways. It was the beginning of my life and you were clearly already on the road with yours, many successes under your belt. You showed me there were no walls keeping me here, even though I chose to stay. I always admired your ambition even though it did not match what I knew I was bound for. I missed your friendship and wish there were not walls between here and heaven my friend. God speed on your new adventure.

An artist sees things in images and in people that others don't see. That is what Pamela did she showed us the beauty she saw in each of us and she brought it out in her pictures and art. Yes Pamela was truly unique and gifted but what really made her special to us all is that we knew that she cared. Not many, if any people really do you ever meet with whom you can share and just be yourself with. Pamela knew and showed in her life that it is nice to be important but it is more important to be nice. The world lost an angel the day you left here and this earth for me will never be the same. I will think of you ever time I hear the song "with or without you by U2." I will miss you forever Pamela.

Thank You for the beauty.

Wow...so sad. Pam was a beautiful woman inside and out. She took my (now 31 yr old) daughter's first modeling head shots at Helen Wells Agency in 1987 when my daughter was about 5. Then she took some wedding still photos in her Indy studio in 1991 when I remarried. All the photos she took were simply amazing. She always knew how to present someone in the best way photographically. Way to young to leave this world.
