R.I.P. Uncle greg i love you
October 12, 2013
At the time of Greg's death, many asked where a donation could be made to honor Greg's memory. Because his death happened so suddenly and was such a shock to us, we were unprepared to give an answer at that time. Since then, we have decided that something needs to be done. One of Greg's passions in life was architectural design. As you probably know, Greg was a licensed architect in the state of Indiana and a certified LEED AP professional. In addition to Greg's professional work as an architect, he also did extensive personal architecture work designing custom homes, including his own, as well as church additions.

In addition to design work, Greg was a talented wood craftsman and enjoyed working with his hands to build projects. Greg was a hands-on father and spent a great deal of time sharing his love for designing and building projects with his sons Griffith (11) and Moses (8).

We have decided, because of Greg's desire to help others in need and his love for designing and building homes, that we will build a home for a family in need through Love at Work Ministries. This ministry provides homes for families living in poverty in Costa Rica. The total cost to build a home is $5000. If you would like to find out more about this ministry, you can do so at If you feel led to make a donation toward the cost of the home we are building to honor Greg's memory, you can click on the "Donate Now" button at the top of that webpage. When you fill out the required form, you are then able to designate your donation to "housing" and "dedicate" your donation to Greg Givens. If you would rather send a check, please write "Housing dedication-Greg Givens" in the memo line. Your check should be made out to Love at Work Ministries, Inc. and mailed to :

As I am unable to attend the services, please know my thoughts, my heart, and my deepest sympathy are with Greg's family, wife, and children. I was Greg's swim coach at Richmond High School where he left a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a great sense of humor! He always had that contagious smile on his face that made him very special. I still have a letter that Greg wrote me after they won the State Golf Championship (and his hole-in-one) that thanked me for the life lessons he learned as a member of the RHS swim team. I treasure that letter to this day especially for the fact that Greg took the time to express his gratitude...that was Greg...kind, genuine, thoughtful, and always a team player. I am devasted at the news of his passing and my hope is that all the wonderful memories of Greg will help bring everyone that knew and loved him comfort and peace at this difficult time.
