Lew was my partner on the department in 1963 when we covered the George Sector of Indianapolis. We got into a fight w/2 men trying to make an arrest and I remember how we laughed so very hard afterwards. I had seen Lew underneath one of the guys and I was busy with the other guy. I hollered over to Lew and asked how he was doing. His reply was "I've Got It". We laughed over this many, many, times after that night. We did however, end up arresting both of them. But not w/o lots of bruises.
I just found out today Oct. 17,of Lew's passing. I am so sorry to hear. He was a dear friend. Don Newbold

Lew was a true peace officer. A fine man and a good leader - a man everyone respected - enjoyed working for and having as a friend. God Bless.
