Mrs Cotter, my oldest and dearest friend Jenny, Steve, jimmy, Shannon and Paul, you will have no idea the memories, love, and laughs you brought to my life. I will cherish them forever. My heart goes out to each and every one of you. I love you all dearly. Mr. Cotter will be missed dearly.

We've only know the Cotters for a short time since we only moved in next door to them a little over a year ago. In the little time we have known them we found them to be some of the kindest and most caring people and the some of the best neighbors you could possibly have. Ellen made us feel welcome to the neighborhood with homemade muffins and always stops to stay hello when we are outside. We are so sorry for the family's loss and are keeping you all in our prayers. Much love and warm sympathies, your neighbors to the south: Jessica, Doug and Chelsea

My daughter made her entrance into this world wrapped in a blanket the Cotter's gave me; she is now in her 40's. Who knew friendships could last this long? Good-bye, my boss, my mentor, my forever friend married to a saint of a woman. Ellen, you & Jim are the best & will forever be in my prayers as well as your special "Cotter Kids". God bless to all.

Dear Ellen, Steve, Jimmy, Shannon, Jenny, and Paul:

It is with deep sadness we learned of your Dad's passing. Your Mom and Dad have always been very special to us, and he will certainly be missed. We have many fond memories of our 13 years together as neighbors. They really made us feel part of the family. The kids always loved seeing "Grandpa Jim", and Lisa and I will forever be grateful for all the times we called on your Mom and Dad to watch the kids at all hours of the day and night. We shared so many great times together (meals, parties, bbqs, breakfast after mass, the summer social, driveway drinks on the weekends, and just catching up while working in the yard).

Please know that you are all in our hearts and prayers, and we will celebrate his life this Saturday at a special mass at our parish here in San Diego.

May he rest in eternal peace,

Much love,

Andy, Lisa, Michael, John, Meredith, and Lauren Carey
