Nancy Ann Threlkeld Abel
64, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2012. Nancy was born November 1, 1947 in Lebanon, IN to John and Shirley Threlkeld of Dover, IN. She graduated from Thorntown High School in 1965 and later from Indiana University School of Nursing in 1970. She spent 42 years as a labor and delivery nurse with Community Hospitals, giving loving nursing care to mothers and newborns as well as assisting doctors with the most difficult medical situations. She was an active member of Carmel Christian Church, always giving of herself to others with love. Aside from spending time with her family, Nancy was an avid IU sports fan and loved watching Bobby Knight coach the Hoosiers.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Andrew) Tynan, and son, Michael Abel; grandson Maxwell Tynan; sisters Sherry (Roger) Rose, Gloria (Richard) Richardson, and Pam (Tom) Lewellen, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Peggy Walker, and brother Roger Threlkeld.
Services will be held at Carmel Christian Church, 463 E. Main St. in Carmel, IN with calling from 4-8 Thursday, September 13, 2012 and funeral services at 10 am on Friday, followed by a private burial. Donations may be made to University of Michigan CADASIL Research in care of Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, IN. Condolences may be made online at http://www.myersmortuary.com.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Carmel Health and Living, as well as the nurses from Seasons Hospice for their loving care of Nancy.

I worked with Nancy for many years, and she was my nurse when I had my own baby.

Suzanne and Michael, I'm so sorry for your loss, but hope you are comforted to know that Aunt Nancy is whole again and with the Lord. I smile to think of the homecoming she must have received by Grandma, Roger and Peggy. Love you
