Paul Nikolaos Tides
79, of Carmel, IN, passed away the morning of June 7, 2014. Paul was born on January 6th, 1935 in Kilkis, Greece to father Nikolaos Konstantinos Karapanagiotides and mother Sotiria (Amanantides) Karapanagiotides.
Paul immigrated to the United States in October 1955 when he first settled in Canton, OH before finally moving and living in Indianapolis. Paul is the first of his family to have ever left Greece and with great courage, perseverance and determination made himself a U.S. Citizen and lived the majority of his life in the USA while also helping other individuals immigrate into the USA for a better life. Paul married his wife Tana of 46 years in March of 1968 together they had 2 children, Nikolaos P. Tides and Sotiria Tides Oliver who loved and revered and admired him greatly for all his sacrifices and assistance to them throughout their lives.
Paul was a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) for over 30 years. Paul retired from the IUPAT and painting in 2000. Paul also owned and operated Ted's Steakhouse - Eagledale. Paul served in the U.S. Army. Paul was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and he volunteered in many Greek Church Festivals. He was the most loving, supportive, attentive, giving, big hearted and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was dedicated and devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren who adored him as their "Papou", he will be greatly missed and remembered.
Calling will be held in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 3500 W. 106th Street, Carmel, IN 46032 on June 10th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. Additional calling will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 beginning at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by the funeral liturgy starting at 11 a.m.
Paul is survived by his wife, Tana (Aitzis) Tides; son, Nikolaos Tides; daughter, Sotiria (Tides) Oliver; son-in-law, Brian Oliver; grandson, Nikolas Oliver; granddaughter, Anna Oliver.
Memorial contributions may be given in Paul's memory to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Online condolences and a video tribute to Paul may be shared at http://www.flannerbuchanan.com. Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple is handling funeral arrangements.
