Thomas Ray Adams
86, of Venice, FL, formerly of Martinsville, IN passed away May 5, 2014. Thomas was born September 24, 1927 in Franklin, IN to Marjorie (Young) and Ray E. Adams. A WW II, US Army Veteran and a member of the Phi-Delta Fraternity, he was the owner of Hopkins and Woods in Martinsville for 26 years until he retired in 1995. Thomas was a member of the Elks Club in Martinsville and the Art Centers in Venice, Sarasota and Englewood, FL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Lea (Woods) and son, Andrew. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; daughter, Anne Hurford of Martinsville, IN; step-daughter, Susan Brubeck of Martinsville, IN; step-sons: Todd Brubeck of Greenwood, IN and Jeffery Brubeck of Port St. Lucie, FL; one grandson; six step-grandsons; and several step-great grandsons. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8th in Sarasota National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238. I spent 22 great years working for this good man. I always thought I get down there to see him again, I guess time gets away too quickly. I really enjoyed the time spent with him.
