A special thanks to Mr. Davis for opportunity to have a football team I could call my own in the Raiders. Being a native from Los Angeles, I had the good fortune of having a football team and attended games at the Coliseum. Although the team moved I still had a deep passion for the Raiders which lead me to my profession this day with the four letter network.

Thank you for your "willingness" to win, the passion and fire for my love of sports all began when my dad took me to my first Raiders game.

You will be missed, but your presence will remain.

May you coach us to victory in that big press box in the sky.

Rest in Peace

Al Davis revolutionized the league. Every team now emulates the Raiders of the 1970s and 80s. Davis changed the league from a league of buzz cuts and repression to one of bristling mustaches and personal expression. All players today owe that to Mr. Davis. He also valued personal loyalty and hard work over race and gender as he worked to dismantle the good ol boy network in the NFL. You will be missed Mr. Davis.

As a kid living in London in the 80's, discovering the Raiders in a book about the SnB opened up the world to me, listening to the games in the small hours of the morning on AFN, I had to come to America to see them for myself, and now I live here.

Then getting to meet you at Crystal Palace in 1990 was unforgettable. You took time to talk to everyone, of all ages, about the Raiders and football.

There is nothing like Raider Nation, and your passion and desire will live on for ever in all who don those black jerseys.

Just Win Baby

Al Davis did so much for football, and he did so much for me. I have been a Raider fan since 1970, and his team gave me so many wonderful games over the years. I did not always like the way he ran his team, but it was HIS team. I hope the Raiders have a winning season for Mr. Davis, and my sympathy goes out to his family. Mr. Davis knew football, and I hope he knew Jesus Christ.

Deepest prayers and sympathies to the family. Coach Davis recruited me to The Citadel in 1955. It was a memorable experience with "Race Horse Football" and his keen recruiting to improve the fortunes of Citadel football. I can still hear Coach Davis yelling at me across the campus as I was going to class:
"Point those toes in Cleveland."
