George Blanda gave us [my father and me] season Bear tickets when they played @ Wrigley and again @ Soldiers Field, some 10 years of season tickets, [we also sat right next to his wife Betty@ Wrigley Field]. George also took me and my father [Harold Baker] to Black Hawk games, and he also treated us to dinners before those games. Oh let's not forget the personal invitations to training camps he participated in (Air Force Academy were the Houston Oilers practiced) where I met Charlie Tollar and Billy Cannon. George gave me an autographed football from the 1958 Bears for a Christmas present [I still have the football]. One last note: I hate to go on and on, not really, but after getting out of the regular Army, my father picks me up from the Midway airport and takes me to a George Blanda 'motivational' speech gathering he was giving in Chicago. I walk in, Blanda sees me and my dad, stops everything and announces that I have served my country. Blanda begins to applaud and then everyone else stands up and does the same. Unbelievable!! Thanks so much George for giving a ‘kid' the memories of a lifetime.

Was looking at some old papers last night and it brought back the memory of when I first met George Blanda. Freshmen year in college and his brother was my room mate in the dorm. Was standing in the room when Joe and Grrges wife walked in the room with Joe's things. Joe introduced George by saying this is my brother the football player. Didn't mean anything to me until I saw him play against the Browns in 1970. To the Blanda family thanks for the great memory.
