On this day we remember Al Davis, born on July 4th.
Mr. Davis would be proud today as the Raiders are heading
back to the greatness he was famous for.
good to see that your vision of picking a punter as 1st draft choice paid off with Ray Guy finally getting in HOF. Now we need to get in Kenny Stabler, who was chosen Quarerback of the decade, 1970's, and one of three on 1st team and only one not in HOF.. Also need Jim Plunkett in HOF as he is only quarterback to win two superbowls who isn't in HOF
R.i.p. Once a Raider, always a Raider. You are gone, but never forgotten. Raider football baby.
Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.
Raiders fan since '87, thank you Mr. Davis for helping to make the NFL what it is today and for making one of if not the best organization in sports today. R.I.P.
As a life long Raiders fan I appreciate and honor Mr. Davis. Thank you for the Raiders and Thank You for the modern NFL that we enjoy today and most of all thank you for being you the inspiration and symbol of one of the greatest franchises in NFL history.
The 4th one is on the way Al. OAKLAND WILL MISS YOU!!! REST IN PEACE. RAIDER NATION!!!!!! B. Toler las Vegas, nv
The greatness of Mr. Davis' wisdom shines on in the person of his last draft pick Terrelle Pryor. Terrelle looks fantastic in pre-season, Mr. Davis would be proud. Just as he is with the marvellous job his son Mark is doing with the team. The future of the Raiders looks bright with the young Mr. Davis at the helm. He certainly learned a lot from his wonderful Dad.
Al, Oakland isn't the same without you.
Al,your Raiders are on the right track, and you would be proud of the direction of which they are headed.Your greatness will never be forgotten and the next Super Bowl victory is not far away.Rest in Peace.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Davis many times I even spent time working for the Raiders as a free-lance intern scout. He was like someone you read about whom lived in ancient times who's life is in history books. He was that iconic to me. When he passed it was something I can't put in words. Their will never be anyone like him again. He is an American original kind of like Marlon Brando. His legacy is filled with greatness, and may those in charge of the organization strive to establish their own greatness as that would pay homage to his. I can proudly say I loved Al Davis.....RIP
When Mr. Davis passed away, The Oakland Raiders posted a notice on their website October 8, 2011. I immediately saved it for my Computer screen saver and it has been there to this day as a daily reminder of this great man. For those who may have not seen the NFL films tribute to Mr. Davis , I urge you to check it out. Mr. Davis' accomplishments and kindness could fill an entire series of documentaries. He continues to be missed and his life an inspiration for me.
RIP AL U were one of the best!U made the 70s!
There will never be another Al Davis. The greatest owner in professional sports history.Miss you Mr.Davis.
RIP MR. Davis. Hopefully we can win now.

I just finished reading his book. He is a remarkable man that I wished I would have met. I am proud to be a Raider fan and proud of all Al's accomplishments
Mr. Davis would have been proud of the huge win in Pittsburg,
such fond memories of all the great games over the decades.
Always on our minds and in our hearts, Raider nation lives on proud and with the poise and wisdom that began in 1963.
Just missing you Big Al.You would have enjoyed the win over Pittsburgh on Sunday. You were the best,R.I.P.
Remembering you on your birthday... JUST WIN BABY!
Went to see where Al was laid to rest the other day and noticed that John Lee Hooker is right next to him. It made me feel good; two guys who left their mark on America side by side in Oakland, and, as it usually is, the weather was beautiful.
Al,I want to say, I love you even though, I never met you. A good friend of mine, Ron Yary asked me to go to the Hall of Fame with him to meet you. You will be loved and missed in my heart.
Al,I want to say, I love you even though, I never met you. A good friend of mine, Ron Yary asked mew to go to the Hall of Fame with him to meet you. You will be loved and missed in my heart.
I'm from Connecticut and a life time Raiders fan at the age of 52, I have a friend who moved to Denver at he was able to get great seats for the game at Mile High. Before the game I went down to the field level and was watching the Raiders warm up, when Al was walking by a called out "Al I travel from Ct to watch us win" when he heard me he cam over and we spoke for about 30 seconds, which was a long time for to speak with Raiders owner. While we spoke a young boy with a Raiders jacket on came over to listen. Al looked at the boy and said "hey son, tell you Dad to buy you a new Jacket" I just smiled and Al walk away...at that point I thought "Al your marketing genius."
The NFL would not be what it is without you, but most of all: Thanks for the Raiders.
Al Davis was the leader of the first team that I truly cared for.
I was about ten when I was indoctrinated into the mythos of the
Raiders by my Brother. That was in 1970 and they have been
my team ever since. I remember fondly all the great players past and present but Al Davis will always be the embodiment of
everything that the Raiders are or ever will be.
you were the true face of football the raiders will miss you dearly,
Al Davis is a legend as big as any in the history of the sport. He affected fans and the Raiders in a way that few could. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Oakland once many years ago and he was very gracious. I felt priveleged to be in the Colisuem the day John Madden lit the eternal flame for Al Davis. It reminded me of when he told the people of Oakland to 'keep those torches burning.' Now they do it forever. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Davis.
The memories you and the Raiders have given me since i saw my first raiders game when i was 10 years old in 1975 will live in my heart and soul for the rest of my life.Thank you coach
A great man has passed, but like this flame his legacy endures.
The Raiders is and always will be the one franchise that never caved. It's about football, family and fighting the institution when it gets out of line. Thank you AL, from your biggest fan.
Al, may you rest in peace knowing what you meant to me personally and the world of pro football. I've been a Raiders fan since I was a kid and I continue to be one of the Raiders biggest fans. I loved your "style" and the mystique you carried with you. You opened up so many opporunities for anyone to show what they can do. Race, gender, religion, checkered pasts never clouded your mind when it came to doing the right things. The world could and did learn from your example. I had the pleasure of meeting you at the HOF in 1992 when you were enshrined. It was a highlight of my life. The day that you passed, I was playing a pick up football game with the youth team I coached. Al, the Raiders, the NFL, and the world will miss you. There will never be another man like you. You will always have a special place in my heart. Go Raiders!!!
When I was in the 3rd grade I found an Oakland Raider skull cap with a pull down mask. I became an Oakland Raider for life. As the years went on I read about them and followed them every season. Im 47 years old and just reading about Al Davis' accomplishments were amazing. I'm proud to be an Oakland Raider for life.
Rest in peace AL Davis and may God be with you. The Raiders are truly one of the most historical and Greatest Franchises of all time and it is all thanks to you sir. Your passion for the game and loyalty to the franchise, organization and your players is inimitable! A true innovator and pioneer within the football industry which is forever indebted to you and would not be where it is today without you! You are the Autumn wind AL! I know you are up their laughing, because not only in the game of football but also in the game of life, you have truly conquered and won. As a Raiders fan, thank you for your commitment of excellence, Just win baby attitude, and most of all, Your loyalty to us as fans. Once a Raider, Always a Raider! To those of us folks who were from no where, who lived and worked in the East Bay in the 60's, Al and the "misfits" created hope. If the Raiders lost on Sunday, our week was a "downer"; a victory meant increased posative mental attitude, as well as production. Safe to say, no matter the score, saloons were the place to be. God bless Al, all the Ol' Raiders and all of Raider Nation.
Thanks for everything Mr. Al Davis! You have been the greatest owner in sports and the best example in life of loyalty, pride and poise. May God bless you in eternity!

My condolences to the Davis family, the Raider family and the Raider Nation! Al, you were a Winner, Baby!!
My condolences to the Davis family. God bless.
As an Irish Raider whose has two beloved teams in Liverpool and The Raiders. The two most influential men ever at both teams were Bill Shankly and Al Davis. Due to being born in 1975 I missed out on the mojority of the Shankly years but I am gratefull I was around for the Coach Davis years. Watching NFL back in Dublin in the early 80's the Silver n Black drew me in and never let go. Al Davis you are The Raiders and I Thank you!
Thanks, Al, for everything you did for your beloved Raiders. I have been an East Coast fan of the Raiders since the early 60's and it is because of the teams you have put on the field. We will all miss you terribly. Long live "Committment to Excellence", Just win baby.
To a man who was not just a great owner but also legend in many things that he was in the first of doing like giving so many African Americans the opportunity to prove themselves and show that they also could do many things from the office to the field so for that he was not just a man but an ICON!!!!!!

This was a big loss to the Oakland Raiders Nation, including the staff, players, fans and especially his family.
You will be missed, but remembered forever.
Mr. Davis, goodbye. It is with sad heart that I say this. I prayed that you would live until we (RAIDERS) won a championship again. That was not to be.But I know you will be looking down on your beloved RAIDERS and they will be looking up at You.
I have been a RAIDER - AL DAVIS fan since their inception. I am 77 yrs old and I moved to Maryland but always managed to return each year for at least 4 games. I love the RAIDERS and I loved you. You did it your way and that is the way it should have been.
May blessings be bestowed upon your family and may Mark continue the tradition that you so lovingly protected.
Al David, my cousin, sat with our family during the long, mysterious and inclusive sedars at our grandparents home. Jerry was our reliable quiet presence at the table while Allen was the child who could not sit still for the entire ritual. Whevever I think of Jerry I think of Allen - they were two peas in one pod. Our family will be diminished by Allen's passing but the stories of talent and courage will continue. Allen and the Raider team represents the best of our grandparent's legacy.
Esther Rivka Wolpert

You were one of a kind, thank you for staying true. You are the inspiration to many including myself, forever in our hearts. May you rest in peace and watch over our team.
The last time I saw Al Davis was in the Palm restaurant in Los Angles in 1994 with his wife Carol. I went up to his table, introduced myself. I asked him when he was coming back to Oakland. It was a one word answer. "Never". In 1995 he was back. Maybe he knew then.
Rest in peace and God bless.

Even though I grew up in Arkansas in the 1970's & 80's, and never saw the Raiders in person, I became a fan somewhere around 1982. I think the toughness, and the tradition of the Raiders appealed to me. I loved that Al Davis, and the Raiders stood for something. Is anyone all good, or all bad? The only thing we can do in life is hope our good deeds outweigh any bad we've done, and I think the scales of good deeds for Mr Davis will never tilt towards bad. Well Done Mr Davis, a good life was lived.
We will all miss you. you have created such a great Raider family and we all love you because you started this. I gave the man who was not dealt the right cards a hope that he could conquer this world. Thank you for everything you will be missed.

if there is one thing you had to respect from AL DAVIS it was this...the man had an eye for talent...whether it be a rookie fresh from college, still wet behind the ears, to the aging old veteran, who kept telling the coaches he could still do it if given a chance...look at how many careers he prolonged cause he still saw something in that player that he liked...thats why they still called him coach...one of a kind, you will be missed but not forgotten...

On December 21, 1974, I watched Stabler roll left on a busted play, barely eluding Miami's pass rush, and loft a game winning TD pass to Clarence Davis in the most memorable comeback game I had ever seen. I became a rabid Raider fan for life. Last Saturday, my grown daughter was emotional when she texted me the news of Mr Davis' passing. Thanks for the memories, Al.

God speed, and thanks Coach Davis.
Since my days as a youth in NY as far back as 1964, you knew what the Raiders stood for. That can only come from one individual and one leader. Everyone loves to say the fish stinks at the head when things are bad, how about the llight that leads through the decades? Who gives you credit for that? Only true Raider fans can understand our loss and the loss for the NFL. I wish I had his bravado and stamina to stand up for principles worth believing in. I bet he's shaking things up right now in the after life. Thank you for Raiders football and someone to admire.
THANK YOU AL FOR ALOT OF GOOD YEARS AND THE GREATEST TEAM OF ALL. I'M PROUD TO SAY I'VE BEEN A FAN OF YOURS THROUGH THICK AND THIN. AND I WILL BE A RAIDER FAN FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I KNOW YOU'RE IN FOOTBALL HEAVEN NOW LOOKING DOWN ON US FROM ABOVE.

Your greatness and love for all members of the Raiders past and present will never be forgotten. I've been a dye hard Raider fan since I was ten years old. You'll be missed but never forgotten. The greatness of the Raiders past, present, and future will be because of vision. The foundation has been laid. Thanks for a lifetime of great memories. Sharon LADYSHA Paulk president or Raider Nation Miami, Fl.

Forever in my heart Silver and Black. Your legacy will stand the test of time. No other owner past present or future will surpass your dominating presence on the NFL. Just as the words " Silver and Black" automatically brings the Raiders to thought. There is and will only be one "AL" in terms of the NFL in pertinacity
Condolences to the entire Davis and Raider families. The Maverick image you exemplified has been a major influence my entire life. Live by your own rules and standards and always remain true to yourself. To conform is to admit defeat. Lifetime raiders and nfl fan, thank you for giving me the joy of the Raiders. I knew you would leave us anyday, but its still a shock. Just know Al me, my brother, and my newborn son are all raiders fan. You picked great hands to take care of the team in Mark, Amy, and Hue. With respect and love for you, your family and friends. goodbye godbless and see you in the great football field in the sky
Al loved football and only cared about winning. I was listening to belichick monday talk about how smart he was and how he had a great memory and could talk xs and os with anyone. His raiders were a dominant team from 1963-1985 and he ran the show. He is true hall of famer and giant of nfl....i am 46 now but i clearly remember his great raider teams of 70s and 80s....Leo nh patriot fan
I grew up in Union City, CA during the 1980s and early/mid 1990s. A time that the Raiders were in L.A. and many in the East Bay turned their backs to root for the team on the other side of the Bay Area. Regardless I still became a Raiders fan. Al Davis's passing made me reflect on why I'm a Raiders fan and how important the Raiders are to my life. Our team is so unique. So full of character, history, and tradition. How many NFL teams can say that? Few, if any. Al Davis is the Raiders, and the Raiders are him. I am a Raider for life. I moved to San Diego in 1998 yet I'm still damn proud to be a Raider and will always be. Without Al Davis, the pride that we have as Raiders fan would not have been there.
This Sunday, I'm driving from San Diego to Oakland to attend the Raiders victory over the Browns and pay my respects to Al Davis. I've traveled to Super Bowl XXXVII, Miami, Green Bay, Dallas, New Orleans, and Phoenix to see the Raiders. The least that I can do is drive up for the weekend to pay homage and thank the memory of the great Al Davis. Raiders for life...and beyond.
Mr. Davis, I cried when I heard the news, you were much more than a football man, you stood up to forces that politicians would run from. You gave people a chance to work regardless of race creed or gender. Thank you for not just opening doors, but breaking down walls.
My heart and prayers go out to the entire Davis family.Thank you Mr.Davis for all the thrills and memories your team has given me and thank you for what you accomplished for pro football.I will always wear the Silver & Black with pride. Rest in Peace
Thank you, Coach Davis, for all that you gave of yourself to the AFL, NFL, football in general, the world, and most of all, your wife and son notwithstanding, those of us in Raider Nation over the years. We will never forget you. RAIDERS FOREVER!!!! JUST WIN BABY!!!!! R.I.P.
There will only be one Al, just like there was only one great George Blanda. I watched Al for the last 45-years as my dad did for 55-yrs. We saw Al through the glory years and the sad years. Al was a true Raider, you could put Al's picture in the place of the Raider pirate. He was a maverick and a true innovator. I may not have always agreed with his decisions, like when he benched Marcus Allen for 2yrs costing us many games or his going against our coach's decision not to draft the slug Russell, but it was Al's team and he was our King. Like it or not, bill board's to retire or not, no one could say Al did not love the Raiders and want us to win. He sold off part of the team to get Free Agent winners, who did not work out, so when you remember Al, just remember he tried to, "JUST WIN BABY!"
I HAVE BEEN A OAKLAND RAIDER FAN SINCE THE LATE 70S I WAS A KID MR. DAVIS WHEN I FIRST SAW YOU . YOU REMINDED ME AS A REAL STRONG PERSON I WAS ONLY A KID AT THE TIME BUT THE WAY YOUR PLAYERS PLAYED FOOTBALL FOR YOU HARD HITTING AND FAST THAT IS THE WAY ME AND MY BROTHER PLAYED FOOTBALL. ALSO WHEN YOU CAME ON TV I REMEMBERED WE WOULD ALL SAY YOU WERE THE GODFATHER OF FOOTBALL WE WILL MISS YOU SIR REST IN PEACE.
My condolences to the Davis and Raider Family. I've been a RAIDER fan since 1977 (14 yrs old) and would like to thank you personally for sharing the RAIDERS with me. I WILL ALWAYS BLEED SILVER AND BLACK.
AL DAVIS RIP
I am extremely grateful to Al Davis for allowing me the opportunity to play with the 1967 Oakland Raiders as a rookie. Naive out of college, late to training camp due to army boot camp, I certainly never imagined to make that great team, let alone playing (on special teams) in every game ending in Super Bowl II. That short experience created a lifetime of memories on so many levels. While he was demanding, and controversial, he was extremely compassionate about his Oakland (and Los Angeles) Raiders. The most striking memories I have of Al was his respect he had for me after playing football. Even though I only played one year with Oakland, when I ran into him at an airport he always went out of his way to shake my hand, still remembered some minor details about me and why I wasn't wearing my championship ring (too valuable). When I took my son to a Raider reunion, he took Chris by the arm and introduced him to everyone in the room—very classy. Yes, he probably should have given up control of the Raiders several times and most of us questioned him when he moved the team to Los Angeles (and back), traded or let certain players go, dubious draft picks and fired (and hired) coaches. But you still have to love the man…I certainly do…rest in peace Al. Saturday, 8 October 2011
My prayers are with you and your family. May you forever rest in peace. I will continue to live my life with "Pride and Poise" in my "Commitment to Excellence". Via con Dios!
I have been a big Raider fan since I was young and my next door neighbor's mother used to scream at the football games on TV and talk about the snake, the man who went to the University of Mars and many others. Al Davis's legacy will be about a team that had spirit was all about winning and had personality. I fear the day that the Raiders become just another corporate entity. Long live Al Davis and the Raiderzzzz.
RIP Al, you were the Godfather of football. You will be dearly missed. Raider Nation will forever live because of you. Raiddddddddderrrrrrrrrrrsssss!!
~ Rest in Peace Al Davis ~
You truly had "A Commitment to Excellence"
Our Prayers and Thoughts go out to The Davis Family and Raider Organization on behalf of La Familia Tailgate RIP Mr. DAVIS God Bless
Rest in peace, you are and will always be the best owner in all sports. I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico, (Los Padilla’s N.M.) I am a live long Raider, and I respect the fact the Raiders is a teams that represents all ethnic, gender groups in the world. That’s why we are the Raider Nation. Gods Team.

R.I.P. Al"Mr.Raider"Davis, you made me proud to be a Raider fan for thirty-five years.
Thank you Al, for creating the very best sports organization and team in the world. I fell in love with the Raiders in 1967 as a boy and have never wavered in my loyalty, belief and undieing support for you and our beloved team. Thank you, thank you, thank you and now.... go dominate up there!!!! Hue and the Team will Just Win Baby down here for you...
there's only one al davis there will be no other rest in peace. go raiders
A true pioneer! You will be missed.
Having been a loyal Raiders fan my entire life, never jumping ship, and never giving up hope that Al would bring our beloved team back home... there is too much to say. Thank you for making my dreams come true. This loss cuts deep, and life as a Raiders fan will never be the same. Rest in Peace Mr. Davis, you will forever be in my heart.
RIP Al Davis, a leader and genius of football. We were lucky to have you on our team. You shape the Raiders and NFl.
Thank you so much and rest.
Al Davis and the Raiders have been a part of my life for 44 years. I truly loved those Raider teams of the 60's, 70's and 80's. Often those teams were a team of misfits, but Al Davis didn't care about that. He only cared what they could do on the football field to help the Raiders win. They were cockey and mean, and they played to not only win, but to dominate. I have always tried to follow that example in whatever I do. I try to look past the appearance of the person and see what's inside them, what makes them click and what they can do to help me be successful in whatever I'm doing. What hit me so hard when learning of his death, was that I realized that I tried to manage the people that work for me or the young people I've coached with the same principles Al Davis used to run his football team. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, the Raiders organization, the NFL and by people like me who admired the way his football teams played.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family....I know he will be dearly missed and all of his accomplishments will be remembered. I know the sadness of lossing a father and a mother...cherishes all the precious memories...
As a lifetime Raider fan, I have always admired Mr. Davis. He was his own man, and ran his team and his life his way. He always said his goal was to build the Greatest Sports Franchise of all time. Very few people in this world get to live there dreams, but Mr. Davis was always the exception and never the rule. The Raider Nation loved him for his accomplishments, loyalty, and compassion. His Players and Coaches loved him, and his enemies respected him. In the end any educated fan of the NFL knows that the product they watch every Sunday is as much his legacy as any who came before him. If there was a Mount Rushmore for the NFL he would be on it. What gets lost is how loving and caring he was with all the friends and former players in the NFL that called him a friend. You don't have to be a member of Raider Nation to realize what an incredible person he was. The world was a better place because of Mr. Davis, and let's not forget the pain of his Wife and Son who are left behind. My prayers go out to them. Thank you Mr. Davis for the 40 years of memories that this fan has, all due to you. RIP Mr. Davis the Nation will always love you.
My condolences to the Davis Family for your great loss of your loved one Mr. Al Davis. He was quite a man, which a lot of us would of loved to have emulated. The more I hear about his accomplishments and how generous he was towards others, the more I respect and admire him.Mr. Davis, Thank you for the memories. They will be forever engrained in our lives. You have done so much for The Raiders,The Team that you loved so much and cared for it showed.God Bless you.We will miss you dearly. Raider for life.
You have done so much for The Raiders,The Team that you loved so much and cared for,it showed. The Raider Nation shares that Passion and love for The Raiders.God Bless you Mr. Davis. We will miss you dearly. Remambering Coach Al Davis, the Greatest Coach EVER! I will keep you in my thoughts Always...-Coach
Mr. Davis passed on Saturday; and it has taken me this long to write my feelings. First to Carol, and Mark, my sincerest sympathy..I have met Al, several times over the years, and had spoke to him back when the internet was new several times. Being friends with Ken Stabler, allowed me to meet him in several cities. On 13 Nov, 1978 he autographed my hat in the locker room after a win on Monday night in Cincinatti. I will treasure it always. In 1990, after a tough loss in Philadelphia; I shouted: " Uncle Al, I would like you to meet my Daughter." who was 4 at the time. He stopped, and waved; and said he was late for a plane. He told me to drop him a line, and he would send her something nice. He did! A package arrived from Los Angeles that had a letter of apology, and many nice items; including a business card. Also in 1990; Jay Schroeder sent me a picture with the sentiment:"PA's BIGGEST Raiders Fan". I asked Al if I could use it on address labels, and letter heads. He told me just make sure they were properly displayed. Probably, my greatest tribute was winning 6 Championships in Minor League baseball with his ideals and words. My license plate on my car says Just Win. As did the stripes on my Silver & Black Shelby. Mr. davis may have passed; but he will live for eternity in my heart.... Coach Bernard Nace, "PA's. BIGGEST Raiders Fan" Farewell Coach, R.I.P.
Mr Davis you have been a part of my football world since I started watching football. Most of my grandchildren are Raiders fans and you will be missed. I wish your family the best and keep the Raiders in the Davis family. Raiders for Life

Coach, thanks for everything. All the years of excitement, the controversy, the wins, the losses, I was always on your side and always will be. Rest in Peace Mr. Davis. Thank you for creating the best team in sports and for choosing the best colors in all of sports. Silver and Black forever.
You will be truly missed and never forgotten. Raiders live forever!
I got to see Mr. Davis up close a couple of times at the 1980 loss to Dallas that looked, at the time, to end Raiders playoff hopes. Two months later, in New Orleans, Al accepted the Lombardi Trophy from arch nemesis, Rozelle with the immortal words "Just Win, Baby!". My memories of the Dallas loss are two-fold regarding Al. First, I stood about 10 feet away on the field during warmups as he gave his legendary fist pump to each player and asked them all, "Are you ready to dominate?". Then, after a late Plunkett int. sealed our fate that day, I waited to use the facilities in Box 119 where my brother and I had watched the game. George Atkinson had stood behind us and the Cowboys game film crew had worked in front of us all day. When the restroom door opened, Al Davis stepped out and looked at me face to face from a foot or so away. I was speechless, and he simply gave a tight lipped shake of the head, acknowledging that the loss had probably doomed the Raiders for yet another year. Today I thank God that we were wrong about the team's chances and, especially, that I was able to have these slight "interactions" with this legendary Raider whose passing we are deeply feeling today. I will be at the game Sunday, looking into his owner's box and down on the field during warmups, remembering that day, over 30 year's ago, like it was yesterday.I am shedding tears for his death, but joyful that he brought the Raiders, as we know them, into our lives.R.I.P., Al Davis. You were a renegade. You were a rebel. You were a RAIDER!
I live in Chicago area and have been part of Raider Nation since 1970, still to this day bleed Silver and Black.
My prayers are with you and your family.
Rest in peace Mr Al Davis, you will never be forgotten. Go Raiders

I was born 75 miles from Oakland and 12
days after the Oakland Raiders in 1960.
Dad was a George Blanda fan so I followed in his footsteps, though "The Snake" was my favorite player. We watched the Heidi game together and
lived through all the Raider triumphs
and letdowns through the years. Al,

tie, I will be a Raider 'til I die!!!

JUST WIN, BABY! and you can rest assured they will do just that, Mr. Davis
East Coast Raider Fan
What a vision u had in 1963 when u took over the failing raiders and made it was it is now raider nation . It's all over the world not just one part, when they say silver and black they mean The RAIDERS!!! I THANK YOU MR. DAVIS FOR GIVEN THIS TO US. UR VISION
Thank you for doing it your way Coach Davis. I live my life like a Raider because of you. You are and will continue to forever be the heart of the Raider Nation....
My deepest condolences to the Davis family and the entire Raider organization. I am a diehard Raiders fan and season ticket holder since the Raiders came back home in 95. There are no words I can express that hasn't already been said about Mr. Davis and what he has meant to me, the fans and the NFL. He will be deeply missed forever. God bless the Davis family and God bless the Raiders!! Go Raiders!!
God figured he has the players, now he needed a coach. Mr. Davis, you did what few have the ability to do: bring the world together into one space. You were a gift from God to us. You will always be with us in the Autumn Wind. Thank you and God bless you.
Through the years I have enjoyed Al Davis's Raiders, would see him in his loft at the games, very involved with his team before any of the other owners, he's a champion for the Bay Area Sports Fan and his dedication is unmatched! I will miss you Big Al, through the good times and not many bad! RIP - Raiderjohn
Mr. Al Davis RIP you will miss but never forgotten. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. Raider 4ever.
I was born the same year Mr. Davis started coaching the Raiders and have been a Raider fan as long as I can remember. I'll always remember his passion for the Raiders and for football, his loyalty to players and coaches, and the way he stood for equality and fairness. They just don't make them like Al Davis anymore. Shalom, Al Davis and thank you.
May God Bless his family and his team. RIP Mr Davis
My heart goes out to the Davis family and to the Raiders oranization. Al Davis will be truly missed by National Football League.
Rest in Peace Mr. Davis
My deepest sympathy to the Davis family for your loss. I have been a Raiders fan and an Al Davis fan for over 40 years and I know Mr. Davis must be negotiating with God to start the HFL. Rest in Peace and Raider nation knows you're looking on.
JUST WIN BABY!
Been a Raider fan all my life. My dad taught me the Raider ways. Al Davis is Al Davis he is the Raiders!!!havent seen the Raiders at thier best but tell ya what Davis had this team going in the right direction now hopefully we continue to follow that path and win one for AL!!!!!
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Davis family and the entire Raider organization. A "commitment to excellence", "pride and poise" and a "will to succeed" against all odds are standards we can all live by. I know I certainly try to. The tradition of the Raiders and what they/you stand for will live on. What you built is too strong to tear down. I know us fans will hold up our end of the bargain!! Raider Nation!! Until I can watch you and all the other Raider greats who have passed make Raider magic on the gridiron in heaven...R.I.P. Mr. Al Davis! You will will be remembered and loved forever!
I have been a Raider fan since 1980, the moment I knew my Chief fan mother and Bronco fan grandmother would hate it. I have not always liked what Al Davis did with the team, but I have to tip my cap to him for the SuperBowls, the winning, and standing up for what he believed in. RIP Al.
I've been a RAIDER since 1972. I've seen plenty of RAIDERS HISTORY. Including all 3 World Championships. Thanks for everything Al. You will be missed Al.
My Blackberry beeped Saturday morning; I had received a Bleacher Report Raider News Alert. All that I could see of the text was "Al Davis Passe...." I did not need to see anymore, I felt that my heart had just been ripped out.
I knew at that moment that I would never again get to see you hoist the Lombardi Trophy as I had as a child and once again to see you prove them all wrong.
I hope now to watch your son Mark win the Lombardi in your honor.
What you created will never die. It lives in me and my family because we are RAIDERS.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Davis family and all Raiders fans around the world.
RIP Coach, you will be missed!
Born in the Bay area, followed team since teenager am now 65 years old my father was a longshorman.Like frank Sinatra's song Mr. Davis did it his way and became an icon his brand he created is known world wide.I now live in San Diego.RIP, keep the team in Oakland where it belongs. tony
I have been a Raider fan since 1985. I stuck with this team through the thick and thin, the good times and the bad. The one constant was Al Davis' love for his team. The love he had for his team will never be matched by anyone ever again. He gave us, the Raider Nation, something to believe in. We all bleed silver and black. We all, in Raider Nation, have one common goal... to Just Win Baby. And it was due to Al Davis' Commitment To Excellence through his Pride and Poise that we have can all proudly SHOUT that we are part of the Team Of The Decades!! And all because of one man, Al Davis. Every time i hear the word Raiders, i always get a picture in my head of him. The two went hand in hand. He created the MOST dominating team in the history of the NFL, by working tirelessly. So, Rest In Peace Al. You have more than earned it! I will miss you for as long as i live!
I've been a Raiders fan since 1972 when I was a boy watching my dad have a fit over "The Emaculate Reception". The Raiders have been a common bond between my dad and I even when we had no other common ground (thankfully, today we have much more in common). As the Raiders ARE Al Davis, in a strange way, he was part of the dynamic that still exists between my dad and I. Losing Mr. Davis affected me far more that I ever expected. Thank you Al for making the Raiders who they are and for giving my dad and I a reason to pick up the phone on Sundays. God Bless you.
WIN BABY WIN...MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY FOR THE DAVIS FAMILY...RAIDER FOR LIFE...
I came home from Vietnan in the fall of 1969,my Dad took me to a Raider game. We shared the up and downs of Raider football untill his passing in 2000. Now its my son and I, 43 years in the Raider family. THANK YOU And GOD BLESS YOU MR.DAVIS

Myself and my sons are loyal members of the Silver and Black Raider Nation. In fact my Maryland plate is R8RFAN. We all were aware that Mr Davis was in a fragile state, but as Coach Madden said you always expected him to make it. Now that we know he is in that Ultimate Raider Box Seat in the sky, and after I have moved my Raider flag from half-staff to back up the flag pole. I will know that Mr Davis THE SILVER AND BLACK ARE BACK! Thank you for everything, RIP
Thanks for the memories Al. You caught my interest when I was just a 9 year old kid,and I'll never forget those early Oakland Raider days! They were magical to me! I'll always be a die hard Raider fan! R.I.P.

It is very sad to loose Mr. Davis, the games won't be the same, not seeing him during them. My daughter and I are die hard Raider fans and always will be. We don't miss a game on TV and when they were coming to Phoenix and playing at the ASU stadium, we would sit in the Arizona heat just to watch their came. But now we have a nice stadium for them. My condolences to the Davis family and the team. RAIDERS - Just keep on winning, because Al is still watching you. God bless the Davis family and team.
You will always be the fire that burns in the hearts of all the RAIDER NATION. You are the best! Rest in peace Mr Al Davis the first Raider!

RIP: Al Davis
I first heard of Al Davis in 1976. I have been a devoted Raiders fan ever since. When it came to football knowledge, Al Davis was a master mind. The Autumn Wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea
With a rollicking song he sweeps along
His face is weather beaten
He wears a hooded sash
With his silver hat about his head
And a bristly black moustache
He growls as he storms the country
A villain big and bold
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake
As he robs them of their gold
The Autumn wind is a Raider
Pillaging just for fun
He'll knock you 'round and upside down
And laugh when he's conquered and won.
RIP Mr. Davis

My deepest condolences to the Davis family. Mr Davis not only did you create a player family you also created a family of fans that spread around the world. Every where I go I meet Raider fans that share the same paasion for the Raiders as I do. I have been a fan since 1971 and so have my brothers we have taught our kids the Raider way and they will and are carrying on that tradition that you have created. R.I.P. Big Al and thank you for all the memories.

Rest in Peace Al !!! I have been a fan for over 25 years and have always admired the tenacity that you had when it came to the Raiders. We will Miss you !!
I became a citizen of the Raider Nation on December 31, 1967 at the age of nine. Having watched OAK win the AFL Championship that day, I was forever influenced by the poise, pride, character and determination exhibited by the incomparable leader of this group of men... AL DAVIS. "Just Win Baby" will forever be on the lips and in the hearts of every Raider Nation citizen. His Legacy is indeed that Mr. Davis taught all that cared to learn the true meaning of living a life with a Commitment to Excellence. MAY GOD BLESS AL DAVIS and the DAVIS FAMILY!
I pray for you and your family at this time of need
My deepest condolences to the Davis family. Although I've been a Raider fan all my life, football takes a backseat to what Al Davis has meant to others. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, his love for both his family and the Raider family is his legacy.
As a Raider fan since I was 8 (36 years) Al Davis was The Raiders. There were times when he frustrated us, there were times when we questioned his actions. Through it all, one thing remains...He was The Raiders.
Upon hearing of his passing, I took it a lot harder than I thought I would. "What now?"...what now?
Mr. Davis, thank you for teaching me the true meaning of loyalty. For feeling the family bond that is The Raiders. I get it. And you just don't understand unless you are part of The Raider Nation.
Rest in Peace Al, and know that the bond you have built will be treasured by all of those you have helped along the way. I'm proud to be a Raider fan, and I'm proud to know that your legacy will forever burn Silver and Black.
A Raider fan
Rest In Peace Mr Davis . . . Every so often when you get a chance and we are down in life, send in a big play to pull us out!
God Bless & Thank You for just being you.
So sorry to hear of Mr.Davis's passing.I have been a Oakland Raider fan for over 30 years and when you mention the Raiders you always think of Mr.Davis.All of the Davis family and the Raider Nation
will be in our daily thoughts and prayers during this time.

Truly a Legend. Because of Mr. Davis there is only one NFL! Rest in peace. JUST WIN BABY!
The most iconic figure in my lifetime. So underappreciated by the uninformed masses in recent years. Incomparable. I walked beside him on many of my trans-global trips to watch the Raiders play and was happy to be that close to someone who inspires me every day.
Rest In Peace Big Al. You were one of a kind and the Raider Nation will never be the same without you

To the Davis Family:
I was fortunate to have spoken with and met Mr. Davis on numerous occasions over the years, thru my work as the late Hank Stram's Special Asst. (when he served as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints). Mr. Davis always took time to ask me how I was doing and spoke of his dear friendship with Hank. While I never had the privilege to work for Mr. Davis and the Raiders, I came to understand his place in history with them and both the American Football League and NFL.
Mr. Davis' passion for the Raiders, football, winning and people will never be forgotten and I can only pass along my sincere condolences to you and hope you will be eased by the many fond memories of him.
Thank you Mr.Davis for creating the Raiders. You and they have brought so much joy to my life.I truly loved Al Davis and the way he lived his life. The most fascinating person in the world is gone, and there will NEVER be anyone like him EVER again.May you rest in peace for eternity.

Grief can be so hard, but your special memories. help you to cope. May God bring you comfort and peace.
May the God of all comfort, comfort the family, friends, and fans of Al Davis. He was a player’s coach because he loved football. Like Job, he can say "You will call, and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands you will have a yearning."
The Autumn Wind is what you created and it will live forever in the hearts of Raider fans and fans of the sport. You will be missed but your presence will always be felt! Rest in Peace and Just Win Baby!!
Davis family: Sorry for your loss. Hope your family relies on God's Word for strength, during this difficult time.
I hope that as a family you all can focus on the love that you shared. I am so sorry for the pain and loss that you must feel. John 15:9 tells us how much we are loved by God and Jesus.
To The Davis Family,
I've been a football fan since I was about 5 years old. I've always been a N.Y. Giants fan and I am familiar with some of the names of team owners. The name of Al Davis is one that sticks in my mind. A man who loved football, winning, and of course, his Oakland Raiders. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to all of you. This is a great loss to you and to the sport of Football. May the Almighty God comfort you at this difficult time.
(A Native New Yorker)

May the stars carry your sadness away, May the flowers fill your heart with beauty, May hope forever wipe away your tears. And, above all, may our prayers make you strong.
I have a few words to describe Al Davis: Legend,Visionary,Just win baby, and your commitment to excellence was the best.. thanks for every minute you brought me happiness and for your Undying Love for the team of the Decades.. If I have my way there will be built a statue to you outside the Oakland Coliseum.. What a Giant among men , I am truly sad by your passing and I helped put your Raiders field together for 12 years as a Union Stagehand.. We all will miss you so much! To the Davis family I want to say My prayers go out to you. I have been a raiders fan for years. I grew up in Oakland and got to see my raiders come back home. I can honestly say I did not agree with Mr. Davis in his later years, I do know this he is the reason we have the league we have. He was an innovator, He was a visionary, He was ahead of his time. The NFL has lost one of the greatest minds to coach/own. I am very glad he was the owner and he brought luster to RAIDER NATION. May you be comforted by the scriptural thought at Psalms 121. There you will assurance Our Heavenly Fathers love and support during these difficult days.
Al Davis the heart and soul of the Oakland Raiders
thanks for the memories mr davis. moved to oakland in 1976 from long beach at age 27. i had been a ram fan all my life but the aura of you and raiders converted me by midseaon to being a raider fan. i moved back to long beach in 80 and was lucky to have you follow me back and bring a championship to l.a. i have been in south carolina for 20 years but still have remained loyal to the raiders. thank you for all the memories
It was November 17th, 1968. Many of you may remember that day, or have read about it.
It was the day that Al Davis reached his mighty hand across a continent, tapped me on the shoulder and said "You're a Raider now, son."
On that day, I saw (or actually, didn't see) a Team who just refused to lose.
At the time, I didn't know anything about Al.... his loyalty, his determination to break color barriers that then existed in the NFL...
I just knew what the team that represented him on the field did - they refused to lose.
And I was hooked.
As we say, you don't pick the Raiders, the Raiders pick you. And the Raiders ... Al Davis ... picked me that day.
As life went on, I came to know, a little bit, about Al Davis, the man.
We all know the stories... about his refusing to play games in places where his players were discriminated against... about being there for people who were not even his guys... and mostly about loyalty and being a man of his word. A man to whom principle was everything.
I loved the man. Always will. Sounds weird, I guess, since I never had the honor of meeting Mr. Davis... But as you all know, that's just the kind of man he is.
Intellectualy, I knew this day was coming, but I always felt that it would never happen. I guess I couldn't ever believe that Al wouldn't be here.
My heart goes out to Mark and Carol and all of you in my RaiderFamily.
I am, of course, like all of you, deeply saddened by our loss.
And yet, at the bottom of my heart, I am proud. Proud to be a Raider, an Al Davis, fan.
You should all be proud that we, as RaiderFans, have been part of the greatest thing in all of pro sports, and maybe, life in general.
We have been a part of the Legend that is The Great Al Davis.
And for that, I'm grateful.
Be at peace, my Brothers and Sisters.
May your soul rest in peace. Keep doing your magic from Heaven!
My condolences to the Raider organization and family and friends.Thank you Mr. Davis for not only bringing the Raiders to prominence but indirectly teaching life and business lessons. A Raider and an Al Davis fan for life.
My Heart goes out to Carol & Mark, on the loss of Al Davis. He was a true Legend in history, and I take comfort that I lived it. RIP AL
My deepest sympathy to your family.
Luke 8:49-56 is an encouraging account to reflect upon that can give you hope.
TO THE FAMILY,MY CONDOLENCES GOES OUT TO YOU,I AM TRULY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.MAY THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT GIVE YOU STRENGTH TO ENDURE.PSALM 34:18.A,WINCHER.HOUSTON,TX.

following the Raiders without him.

Mr.Davis, I respect that you always fought the good fight and spoke your mind. Thank you for leading the Raiders to greatness. RIP BROTHER.
The pearly gates will never be the same with you prowling the sidelines.
With your inspiration, I channeled my inner rebel into a successful life. The Silver & Black have always been my only team, and will always be. Raider for LIFE.
Long live the Raider way you inspired, long live the Raiders, and may long live the memories of your contributions to the millions of people you've influenced.
As Howie Long said today on Fox...some will try, but there will never be another like you. RIP sir.
Being from Louisiana, I was not raised as a Raider fan, but I became one in 1976 when I was 12 years old and have now been a part of the RaiderNation for some 35 years. Mr. Davis is not only an inspiration to the RaiderNation and to football fans everywhere, but also is a great example of what being an American is all about. Mr. Davis worked his way up from a scout to an owner and his Commitment to Excellence, and his compassion for others is an example for us all.
The NFL wouldn't be what it is today without you. There is only one true sports nation - Raider Nation and we mourn your passing. RIP Al
A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING MR. DAVIS.I GOT A CALL FROM THE NORTHLAND HOTEL ASKING ME TO KEEP THE DINNING ROOM OPEN BECAUSE MR.DAVIS AND HIS STAFF WERE COMMING OVER.MY WAITRESS SAID MR. Mr. Al Davis taught me to never give up. Thank you for being the Rock of the Raiders and the NFL. Raider Nation forever! RIP

You were one of kind Mr. Davis. Thanks for all the memories. Rest in Peace.
Thank you Mr. Davis for all of the great Raider seasons, even if some of them weren't so great. When you pass through the pearly gates, please let my dad sit in the owner's box with you for a game or two. He would've loved that.
Like many I've been a Raiders fan all my life. It's truly a sad day for Raider Nation. Mr. Davis will be remembered for all his greatness as an owner and being a football genius that led the NFL as we know it today. However, I hear much about what a compassionate, caring, and giving person he was. He truly had a great heart. This will be his legacy as well. My prayers and thoughts go out to the Davis family, friends, the organization, and us in Raider Nation. R.I.P. and Godspeed Al.

Rest in Peace Mr. Davis...you were the original game changer...you will be missed by many. Today the Raider Nation flag flies at half staff.
Mr.Davis will live in the hearts of the RAIDER NATION forever!
R.I.P. Al Davis!
Today is a sad day in the Raider Nation. We have lost one of the most recognizable sports figures in history. I have been a Raiders fan for 30 years now, and I only have one team. I watch other sports, but the Oakland Raiders are my only team. Mr. Davis made the Raiders who they are, and who they will be. A true legend of the game he will be missed, but his legacy will live on forever in the Silver and Black!
Mr. Davis was instrumental in making the NFL what it is today. And in the process, he made me into a diehard member of Raider Nation. RIP, Coach Davis.
To the Davis Family and all of the RAIDER family. My heart felt condolences. WE have all lost a big part of our lives today. Al was more than just our team owner, but a great man that cared and did things for others. Not for any attention, but just because he cared and had a big heart. I have been a die hard RAIDER fan since the late 70's. That is all due to Al and his vision of the RAIDERS. Al, you will be missed. I hope that the RAIDERS can bring you a super bowl victory this year.
One of the biggest influences in my life has been as a fan of the Raiders. Al Davis was the Raiders, I have used my passion for the Raiders to drive me to succeed in all areas of my life. I lost a hero today, but I know the Raiders will continue in the image of the man who made them known "worldwide". Prayers to the Davis family and the Raider Nation, the greatness of the Raiders is still in its future!
Words cannot express what a loss this is to the NFL, to the Raiders. A coach to the end, he never stopped teaching. I am saddened to know I will never see him smile, hoisting the Raiders 4th Lombardi.
And I never had the pleasure of knowing him. My deepest condolences to his family and friends, those that loved and knew the man, not just the legend.
God bless, Al.
A true pioneer of the sport! RIP Al
I worked at Merritt hospital when
Carole was admitted with a serious heart attack. I met Al and Mark at that time. I remember Mark asking me how I did what I do, and I remember Al being one of the most caring wonderful loving human beings that I ever met in my life. You will be missed and remembered as not only a football legend, but to a few of us. as a truly great man. God bless you all.
Thank you for all the memories this great franchise you've put together has given us all. I'll bleed silver and black until the day I die. The world lost a great man today.
I remeber sitting through the 1962 season at Frank Youell Field and finishing at 1 and 13. And then they hired Al Davis, and everything changed. A winning team and tradition. A take no prisoners approach to the NFL forcing a merger and changing the face of professional football forever.
What a man!
Met him in 1977. great guy then. I will never forget you Mr Davis. When everything seemed to go wrong in my life, when it seemed I had lost everything, I still had the Raiders. I will always love the man. I am saddened for his family. May his spirit live forever.
Because of my faith in God through his Son Christ our Lord and being a Raider fan, I came through some major problems including an accident that nearly took my life. In other words, I'm a fighter and a Raider fan. Thanks Mr Davis for the Silver and Black! RIP, maybe U will sign me in Heaven to play.
Thank you Mr. Davis for the Amazing joy you gave me as a fan of the Raiders, especially as a kid.
Your accomplishments are so many. Much love to you and the family you loved so much. You will never be forgotten.
MY HEART IS FIELD HERE WAS A MAN THAT MADE THIS TEAM TODAY AND THAT'S THE OAKLAND RAIDERS, EVER SINCE I WAS 6YRS. OLD I WATCH THE RAIDERS WITH MY DAD HE SCHOOLED ME ON WHO AL DAVIS WAS AND WHAT A HELL OF A MAN WE WAS AND TO TURN A TEAM AROUND AND ALSO FOR THEM TO RESPECT THE TEAM , PEOPLE THAT IS . MY HEART IS FILLED BUT THIS WAS A HELL OF A MAN
RIMAH "RAIDER MS. TWEETY" AVALIA
My prayers go out to the Davis family. Mr. Davis was truly a visionary and he will never be forgotten. God bless. In Sympathy,
Many blessings to you, Al!
Thanks for the memories of RAIDERS FOOTBALL monday night was always the best RIP enjoy the ride home
RIP legend. You'll be missed
A special thanks to Mr. Davis for opportunity to have a football team I could call my own in the Raiders. Being a native from Los Angeles, I had the good fortune of having a football team and attended games at the Coliseum. Although the team moved I still had a deep passion for the Raiders which lead me to my profession this day with the four letter network.
Thank you for your "willingness" to win, the passion and fire for my love of sports all began when my dad took me to my first Raiders game.
You will be missed, but your presence will remain.
May you coach us to victory in that big press box in the sky.
Rest in Peace
Al Davis revolutionized the league. Every team now emulates the Raiders of the 1970s and 80s. Davis changed the league from a league of buzz cuts and repression to one of bristling mustaches and personal expression. All players today owe that to Mr. Davis. He also valued personal loyalty and hard work over race and gender as he worked to dismantle the good ol boy network in the NFL. You will be missed Mr. Davis.
As a kid living in London in the 80's, discovering the Raiders in a book about the SnB opened up the world to me, listening to the games in the small hours of the morning on AFN, I had to come to America to see them for myself, and now I live here.
Then getting to meet you at Crystal Palace in 1990 was unforgettable. You took time to talk to everyone, of all ages, about the Raiders and football.
There is nothing like Raider Nation, and your passion and desire will live on for ever in all who don those black jerseys.
Just Win Baby
Thank you Mr. Davis for all the years of great and not so good football. The Raiders are a team that will forever be Al's team.
mourning the passing of a true legend. Al is one of the major reasons every sunday I wear my silver and black with pride. he brought swagger, pride & poise and for that I will forever be thankful. JUST WIN BABY... goodbye Godfather...
My prayers go out to the family and friends of this great man! You may have not been liked in some circles but you were a true Raider through and through.Your commentment to excellence will not be riveled anywhere. May you RIP Mr. Al Davis.
THE WORLD HAS LOST A GREAT MAN AND A FOOTBALL GENIUS.THE RAIDERS WON'T BE THE SAME WITHOUT HIM BUT HE GAVE US MANY MEMORIES THAT WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US.REST IN PEACE AL.MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY.JESS RUTLEDGE-ROCKLIN,CA.
Al Davis did so much for football, and he did so much for me. I have been a Raider fan since 1970, and his team gave me so many wonderful games over the years. I did not always like the way he ran his team, but it was HIS team. I hope the Raiders have a winning season for Mr. Davis, and my sympathy goes out to his family. Mr. Davis knew football, and I hope he knew Jesus Christ.
Deepest prayers and sympathies to the family. Coach Davis recruited me to The Citadel in 1955. It was a memorable experience with "Race Horse Football" and his keen recruiting to improve the fortunes of Citadel football. I can still hear Coach Davis yelling at me across the campus as I was going to class:
"Point those toes in Cleveland."
Mr. Raider - Al Davis
Your passing has hit myself & the Raider Nation hard. You are the Raiders, and will always be. It's a very sad day for all of your fans, who have followed what you have built. You will always be No.1 in the hearts of the Raider Nation. We will continue to give 100% support to your team. The Raiders!!
God Bless You, and R.I.P. - AL
Al Davis is the Raiders and the Raiders are Al Davis. A true sports legend and a great mind he was. His knowledge is more than football, he was a great student of history. Unique in every sense of the word. I can hear him saying the following: PRIDE & POISE, THE WILL TO WIN, COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE and of course, JUST WIN BABY!
I will miss you dearly. God bless both of his families, The Davis & Raiders.
Mr. Davis! What a man, legend, my hero since I was a boy. He was one of the greatest American icons without question. His legacy symbolizes the passion and loyalty of the Raider heart--he made his own way! He will be sorely missed.
Thank you Mr. Davis for all you've done for Northern California and the NFL. The silver and black have been part of my family for 3 generations now, its something you are born into and raised on around our house. Love him or hate him, you cannot deny his passion and contribution to the game.
The Nation loves you Al, you'll always have a seat at the coliseum with your true believers
A true innovator, the NFL wouldn't be what is today without him.
RIP Mr. Davis your legacy will never fade.
Go Raiders, "JUST WIN BABY"!
Your decisions were not always right but you tried, oh boy you tried to make the Raiders winners again!! Please may the force be with you in heaven and guide the Raiders to the next level!! Darth Davis Rules!!
To the Davis Family;
My Deepest Sympathy goes out to the entire family. Al is up there guiding his team to the Super Bowl. God will have him at his side and guide him through his next journey in Football. And, in whatever he finds to do. The entire Football nation will miss you. But, you will be forever on the Raider sidelines from now to Eternity. You brought us many fantastic games throughout the NFL seasons. May you rest in peace and be forever eternal. Thank you for the great years of NFL Football.
While many words will be shared, thoughts, memories there will always be a very short few that will always describe Al. Commitment to Excellence and Just Win Baby! May the Raiders in your absence do both in remembrance of you
Mr. Davis - I have been a huge fan for almost 40 years. You will definitely be missed, but not forgotten! My prayers are with your family.
i have been with the Raiders since 1960. i remember the pig skin parade whre the little raider always was beaten up on Mondays until Al came to town . thank you for all you did RIP
My deepest sympathy goes out to his family. It is such a great loss to the NFL Games in history. He was a legend of all football owners today.
Your Bigest Fan
The best.A tough guy who walked a straight line of his own design. The NFL is what we know it to be because of Al Davis and men like him.
THIS IS FOR AL DAVIS AND LET YOU KNOW HE WILL BE MISS ARE OF HIS FANS AND THE PLAYERS AND ARE SO HIS FAMILY TO AND HIS WAF TO WE WILL MISS AL DAVIS THANK YOU
You will be missed a long time fan!!!!
Thank you Mr. Davis for your contributions to the game of football and to the Raiders...condolences to your family.
I'm a RAIDER because of you, Rest in peace Mr Davis
RIP Mr. Davis - you are a true legend of football. I have been a devoted fan since the early 70's and have enjoyed every minute. Thank you.
A true blast from the past, he's done it all, he was thinking football before any of us, He fought the NFL, he created the Raider mystique, he hired Otis Sistrunk, Lester Hayes, Marcus Allen, Jim Plunkett and other castoffs including Jerry Rice. Ironically, even today the team is getting mixed reviews, however they are still #1 in kicking the ball, whether it's punting, kickoffs or field goals. But then there also existed the other side of Al Davis. He was delusional thinking a Raider team would work out in Irwindale. Nonetheless the deal fell through, but Al still made money as if he was selling gold or something else other than a football team. He came up with the idea of licensed fan seats. Last year he fired a decent coach. Unpredictable, yes indeed, in control? Always. The best idea I feel Mr. Davis completed was to bring The Raiders back home to Oakland and forget Hollywood. Love you Al and God Bless you and the Raiders!!
Mr. Davis - Your passion for success and for the Raiders are what have made me a Raider fan for my entire life of 33 years. I live, breathe and bleed the Oakland Raiders. For better years or for worse years, your attitude to be the best regardless of the cost and for standing up and standing out above the rest no matter what anyone else thought made you the ultimate renegade: the one that so many owe thanks to, and the one that nobody could touch. You have created the ultimate place of belonging, the Raider Nation.
A sincere Thank You for what you have meant to me and my life. I will never forget the first time I walked into Oakland Alameda Coliseum to watch my first game in person. It was an overwhelming emotion that has never been duplicated...
Rest Well. You will be missed.
The Autumn Wind is A Raider, and now is stronger than ever with the force of Al Davis behind it...
coach Davis was a one of a kind. I thank him for giving me this football team that I became passionate about in the early seventies, and am still passionate about to this day. JUST WIN BAYBY!
The Autumn Wind blows softly today.
Bob Green - "Just Win, Baby"
RIP Al. Thank you for everything you did for the Bay Area and Oakland. We had some great Hay Days of yesteryear and built a Proud Organization. Condolences to the Friends and Family
As a Raider fan this is truly the saddest moment in the history of the team. The man loved his franchise, players and fans. He cared for people and was truly the biggest factor in getting the NFL to its modern day excellance. May you rest in peace Al, you will missed. Just Win Baby
I always considered Al a GENIUS. He leveraged a blue collar mentality in formulating the Raider ethos in the City of Oakland.
Without the Raider mystique, the Steeler/Raider rivalry of the 70's and 80's would not have been as important.
Al will be missed. Rest in peace.
May you RIP Al, my condolences to your family, and the whole Raider Nation!
Al is as responsible as anybody for the success of the NFL as it stands today. As the commissioner of the old AFC, he brought the old established NFL to it's knees. He had an idea and he made it grow. I'm just sorry he couldn't have watched his beloved Raiders in just one more super bowl. Sorry to see him go. God Bless.
We will miss you Mr. Davis. You have gone to a very special place. Your hard work and efforts here on earth will continued to be remembered each and every time your team the OAKLAND RAIDERS step on a playing field. Thank you for all your contributions to the Oakland Raiders and to all of the fans.
We will miss you!
Mr. Coach Davis--you gave us some of the most exciting moments of our lives. Thank you and God Bless You and Yours.. With Love, the Kurt Bolinder Family
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I have been a Raider fan for the past 50 years. Thanks Al for bringing me and all football fans some of the greatest games in league history. You will be missed.
RIP Mr. Davis. You were one of the greatest influences the NFL had and ever will have. You will be missed.
As a long time Raider fan you will be missed Mr. Davis...
