I wish we'd had the chance to know Brenda better, but distance made that difficult. We got to know her through our long friendship with Jim, and so we knew her as a fun, funny, charming, bright lady, and we will miss her, as we know all of you will. We're thinking of Jim, Carson, and Brenda's family, and remembering a woman who fought hard and lived life as fully as she could in the too short a time she was given.

I was lucky enough to have Brenda in a few of my classes in high school. She made the world a better place. My condolences and prayers go out to her husband and son and to the Farrington family.

Some very special people come into your life that change you forever. Brenda was one of these people. Her strong faith never wavered; even throughout all the pain and suffering she so bravely endured. I had the sincere pleasure of growing up with Brenda and getting to know her through her long relationship with my older brother. Many years later, she still felt like part of our family. I will never forget her strong faith in God, her great smile and her contagious laugh. She was truly a great person that will be missed. My prayers go out to her husband, son and the Farrington family.

Brenda and I were in the same group of friends in high school--a group brought together by an odd mixture of Christianity, academics, sarcasm and playfulness. We called ourselves The Group, and the voices of its members are all over this guest book. We were called by others The Milk and Cookies Club and perhaps Brenda represented best everything that moniker signified. She was beautiful in the most wholesome way imaginable. That smile. To tempt that smile out, you'd plumb the depths of your mind for a joke she'd appreciate. I think it was easy for someone who didn't know her then--those who would come up with a name like The Milk and Cookies Club-- to think she was naive and simple. However, she was complex, brilliant and someone always guided by faith. The world lost a beautiful person and The Group lost a cherished member.

I knew Brenda during my senior year of high school and freshman year at Central Michigan U. (We were in the same group of friends, some of the same classes; we ate many, many dinners together in the residence hall cafeteria and watched plenty of Thursday night Must See TV in that residence hall--Cosby, Family Ties especially.) I will remember Brenda for her thoughtfulness, how quick she was with a quip, and especially how much she wanted the best for the people around her. She had, in short, a very gracious, bright spirit, as her family and those who were closest to her in recent years no doubt know so well. I'm proud to be among Brenda's friends; I am much better off for having known her. May God bless you, Jim and Carson, and all those in Brenda's family.

Brenda was a very special person in my life. I met her when she was a beautiful preppy girl of 14. We grew up together, went to college together, and at one point almost got married. So many things about Brenda stood out: her quick mind, her ability to perfectly recall a song lyric, poem, book quotation, author's name, or lead singer of an obscure band; but ultimately she was just an incredibly GOOD person. She always tried to do what was right. Always. Her battle against this evil disease also proved how amazingly strong she was - stronger I think than anyone realized. She showed us all how to live life to its fullest, even in the direst of circumstances, how to smile in spite of pain, how to find the bright side of any situation. She was a bright light, and the world is a little darker now without her in it. May God be with her adorable son and family. She is now and will forever be in my heart.

From the early days of Junior High when we would talk and laugh in the school library to the High School where we were debate partners (we forever have laughed how as freshmen we were put up against Frankenmuth Varsity and were pummeled), to the occasional visits as adults either in Indy where we would share our love for Indian Cuisine or her Delight of Christmas Lights in the city viewed from high above the circle… to the more recent on-line chats. Brenda always has been and always will be a special person. I feel the hole in my heart. I weep for Jim and Carson unable to comprehend their loss. I rejoice that Brenda has Risen and the battles are behind her; the pain and struggles behind her and forgotten by Grace.

God Speed my friend.

Such a lovely lady with a big laugh and a bigger heart! I had the privilege of getting to know her through her brother Tom and Debbie. She is officially now, an Angel.
