Edna Walsh Smith Grays, SC Edna Walsh Smith, 81, of Grays, SC, widow of Everett E. Smith, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Uni-Health Post Acute Care of the Lowcountry. Mrs. Smith was born on April 25, 1931 in Grays, SC. She is the youngest child of the late Edward and Lula Walsh. She was married for 53 years to her beloved husband Everett until his death in 2009. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and excellent homemaker. She was a long time and faithful member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where she served as Secretary and Sunday school teacher for many years. After all five children entered school, she spent so much of her time volunteering at the school that she was eventually hired by the Jasper County Department of Education where she worked until she retired in the 1980s. She will be forever loved by her children, Eugene E. (Karen) Smith, Brenda (Gary) Perkins, Margaret E. Smith, Anthony W. Smith and Alan L. Smith; grandchildren, Tina M. Smith, Kevin L. (Joy) Smith and Michael W. (Alisha) Lemocks and 8 great grandchildren; sister, Allie Mixson; brother in law, William L. (Johnnie) Smith; sister in law, Kay Smith and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to a special friend of the family, Sylvia Scott, for the special care she gave her. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians and staff of Dr. Clark Trask and Dr. Lafrancise for their kindness and care and to Uni-Health Post Acute Care of the Lowcountry during her stay there. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2012 with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am, both at Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Grays, SC with interment in Beaver Dam Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001; or American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123 or Beaver Dam Baptist Cemetery Fund, 4611 Beaver Dam Road, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
