Dear Joan, Susan and John-
I'm so sad to hear about your mom. It's hard to ever be ready for the day we lose a parent, especially our parents have, in many cases, truly become our best friend. It's not easy to imagine all the little things without them.
In reading your mom's obituary, I learned some things that | didn't know-that she went to Berkeley for example (where I went too), that her favorite sports were volley ball, tennis, and body surfing, and especially, that she loved dogs! Awe....I understand this. Where would I be without my side kick Calvin, our Springer Spaniel-seriously. Your mom and I had much more in common than I ever realized back in high school. I'm sorry to have missed getting to know her as an adult. I know I would have had so much fun with her.
In the meantime, I'm glad that you are each there for one another at this sad time. You're lucky to have such great siblings in one another.
It was really fun to spend time with Joan for Jenny's 50th and I look forward to when I get to see each of you again, some time sooner than later I hope.
Warmly,
Caroline Wheeler Perkins
