My Grandma was and is one of the most strong, beautiful, and influential women in my life. Her presence always filled the room. She knew how to be center-stage. I love my Grandma and miss her everyday. I know she is in Heaven looking down on me and smiling. I was with her during her last days and know she is with Grandpa Howard. There are days I can feel her beside me telling me how beautiful I am and how proud of me she is. I love you Grandma! Give Grandpa a kiss and hug for me.

So glad this was posted for Janet and her family. The York/Van Kessel family moved into our neighborhood in Sonora and Jody and I became good friends as kids. It was a more simple time back then, where all the neighborhood kids played together and enjoyed games of kickball, tag, ditch and the like. We all were in and out of each others' houses often and our parents knew other parents, as well. I always knew Janet as a kind, caring and loving person, who always greeted you with a smile and a warm "hello." For her years of dealing with the struggles of polio and then misfortune of losing her husband and raising 5 wonderful children on her own, she was a woman never daunted by any of it! She never complained or appeared anything but "upbeat." She had a strong resolve, tremendous faith and loved people! I gained a lesson from her strength, as a young teenager. I will never forget the exemplary strength and faith she displayed in the misfortune of Mary Beth's tragic accident, which took her much too young. I remembered her strength, faith and power of prayer some years later, when I lost my own child as an infant. Sometimes we don't even realize how someone else has affected our lives, until years later when we look back. I will always remember Janet for the remarkable person she was and credit her for helping me through that rough time years later, with a lesson I didn't even know she taught me at the time. Thank you, Janet, for just being you!! Your memory and example will live on through your wonderful children and generations to come. I'm sure God has you seated at the head of the table in the best card games in heaven!!

Janet was a special lady, my world is brighter for having known her. She was a warm caring woman, always ready with a smile to greet you. I know she's in heaven watching out for us. God called one of his wonderful angels home.
