VEV holds a special place in our hearts. One time we remember was when Gwen went on a cruise with our family and upon returning home there VEV was waiting excitingly in front of our house so she could hear all about it! She embraced life and lived each day to the fullest.

Verna was a very special person. When I came to work at First Federal, I was so glad to meet Verna. She was so kind and helpful to me. In fact, everyone at First Federal was very nice. I relied on Verna to help me when I needed it.

When she retired from full time work, she became a memeber of the Board of Directors. The bank had to take back a condo unit in Yucca Valley. Verna went with me most of the time I had to drive to Yucca Valley. She was a valuable friend and advisor. I will truly miss her. She and I had a wonderful relationship, and she added to the value of my life. I will never forget her. She loved her family & gave her all for them. Alice West-Roberts

Verna was truly a special person. she was loving & caring to all and always there to help when needed. I will miss our hour long phone talks, her humor and her understanding of life. She will always be remembered and in my heart.

My mother Tillie Absolon Vavrina met Verna at 1st Federal S & L when I was but a tiny boy. Many years later, in 1956 and when I had just been discharged fron the Marine Corp, Verna and my father Joseph Vavrina had formed an alliance from which I hoped each would gain happiness and love for the next pathway of their lives. Their were some bumps in their road but I must believe that their companionship yielded caring and the sharing of themselves on a loving plane understood best to Verna and Joe.

When son Troy and his mother Carolyn, who both live in Loveland, CO and Troy's sister Dorna, who resides in Nashvillel, TN and I used to visit my father and step-mother Verna in San Bernardino,Verna was always the most loving, caring and sweetest lady to all of us. The children loved her and even in the last few years, she always asked about Troy and Dorna. It was always a pleasure to see her and I believe I speak for all four of us.

My memory of Verna will always be this: I used to refer to my biological mother as the greatest woman in the world (Carolyn? Yes, but a different pathway); Verna, was the 2nd and that is the place in my heart where she will always be.

Rest in peace, Dear Lady.
