SMITH, DENNIS ERROL Dennis Errol Smith, age 72 of Jackson passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013. Dennis was the son of Thane and Bernice (Murray) Smith, born January 16, 1941 in Jackson, MI. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, JoAnn Smith; two children, Kimberly (Bob) Helm, and Steve (Tracy) Smith; three grandchildren, Alan, Nathan, and Jacob; brothers-in-law, Tom (Marilyn) Curtis, Dean (Mary) Curtis; sister-in-law, Ann (Ken) Steinbrenner; special friend and neighbor, Stick and family. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Eric Helm; sister, Joanne Kemp; brother, Terry Pieffer. Mr. Smith attended Michigan Center High School. He served his country for 9 years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Dennis owned and operated Denny's Mobile Home Service for many years; he also worked at Crankshaft Machine Company, and retired from MACI as a machine repairman. He was a member of the Spartan Horn Model "A" Club. Dennis was well known for his love of antique cars and restoring them. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, many friends, and his dogs Georgee and Sadie. He was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at the WATSON FUNERAL CHAPEL Thursday, September 19, at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Steve North officiating, interment Roseland Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions for those who wish may be made to the Cascades Humane Society 1515 Carman Drive, Jackson, MI 49202. Visitation: Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and again Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. J. L.
