John Liby Obituary

Liby, John Dallas Age 64, of Saline, passed away Monday January 26, 2015 at home following a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born June 21, 1950, in Morenci, he was the son of Dallas and Irmalee (Bump) Liby. He served in the US Army during the Viet Nam Era and had worked in the transportation department for Hanover-Horton Public Schools for over 20 years. John enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques and tractors. He loved spending time on his mother's farm in Coldwater and with all his grandchildren. On August 14, 2010, he married Julie Goetz and she survives. Also surviving: daughter, Jamie L. (Rob) Smith; stepson, Steven (Lisa) Trevino; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; mother, Irmalee Osborn; parents-in-law, John & Evelyn Goetz; sister, Shirley Shelton; and one nephew, Rob Burlew. He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Jim Osborn; daughter, Erica Liby; and niece, Suzanne Cooney. Memorial services with military rites are 1:00 p.m. Saturday (1/31/2015) at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor David Holt officiating. Visitation is Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Center at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. "Uncle John" will always be remembered. He was close to my dad (Lanny Quimby) and now I can just imagine their together again in a better place. oh boy! My thoughts are with Jamie, Irma and his (latest) wife.

john was a great guy, scene him at a lot of auctions, went to school with him back in the day kept me from getting beat up all the time r i p ole buddy.
